Nobody wants the new Maglite 6D?

The Imedions are $30 a PAIR, so halve that excessive number on the cells. Still pricey, but what ain’t?

10,000mAh per D cell. NiMH are well known to be Amp capable, but this light only makes 640 lumens so the draw is not very much, meaning 10,000mAh will have many many hours of run time even on high. MagLite’s runtime chart shows 71 hours on High. As a plus, the NiMH cells are lighter than Alkalines.

Last a long time was in reference to recharge rates, sure, the 6 cells will cost $90 but they won’t need to be replaced for a decade or so…

I have 4 of these, and some 30 Imedion AA cells for my flash units. The flash units put to work hard at weddings, they always hold up well even under stupid heavy use at the reception. I have Eneloops that use the same chemistry that are over 8 years old.

racoon, people use phones as though they were computers. go figure. I have bride and grooms view their high res pics on a cell phone. :person_facepalming:

My point is still valid.

If comfychair wants to see BLF in all its glory, it's time to upgrade to a real computer.

You young ones with all your fancy gizmos, wasting your money on high end commodore computers. Your generation has lost its way :stuck_out_tongue:
When i was your age we had to walk 8 miles to school, uphill, then 8 miles uphill to get home before starting 4 hours of chores before dinner.

…with no shoes, through briar patches. And the walls in the house weren’t air tight, snow would blow through the cracks, slept 6 in a bed with newspapers covering everyone for warmth, there’d be snow on top of the papers in the morning. yeah yeah yeah, heard it all before. (Dad is 87)

He also still thinks his original tungsten MagLite is Awesome! Then again, he can’t believe some of what I create… and SOME of em he insists on taking with him to his game day at Church on Friday to show the other old timers…

To be fair, many phones (and tablets) these days have higher resolution and better color rendering than anything but professional-class computer displays (and probably some Macs). I have a fairly nice 26” Asus IPS display, but my LG G4 easily bests it.

Indeed. I was going to throw in something about the health benefits of cigarettes but decided against it

Thats awesome, probably the closest thing you will get to recognition

That’s funny PD. High resolution on a small screen… who can see it? Can you tell I removed the peppercorn from the grinning grooms teeth? Shopped the pimple off the brides nose? Too small, res be danged. :stuck_out_tongue:

I got my Dad the newer 2D MagLite in LED format. He likes it and is way impressed with it’s small throwy beam pattern, and I have to admit it’s a huge improvement over the original stuff from ’87, but they’re underpowered … a necessary step for runtime I guess and they’ll surely never overheat.

I gotta go look at this new 6D now…

Wow! $94 at Zbatt! Plus the cells, not horrible if you use Alkalines (they have Sony D for $10.50 a 12/pk) but to use the rechargeables makes for a significant initial cost point. Especially if you don’t already have the MAHA 8 bay charger that can handle the D cells.

Generally I agree, but some crazies are out here with 6.5” “Phones”. And honestly any picture will look better on a tiny screen than the nasty-colored 1366x768 LCD’s that most laptops have :confounded:

but I’ll allow this train to get back on its rails now

Waitaminute! You had blankets?? And a bed?? You rich boys are all alike!

:money_mouth_face:

Had to share a toothbrush, once a week regardless, if that makes you feel any better. (If you saw my Dad and his siblings all lined up smiling, you’d realize the shared toothbrush probably got neglected) perhaps baking soda and a pinch of salt DOES NOT bode well as a toothpaste.

I, on the other hand, am spoiled. I get fresh roasted fresh ground Panama Elida coffee daily.

Yeah, Bort and I went to different schools together, he walked and I took a lunch.

You know I first read this thread when it was at 2 or 3 posts, then all of a sudden 60+
I thought I was missing out on some great mod or deal at Amazon of something. Come to find out it was nothing but bickering about Bort’s signature.

It’s my fault, I have been buying too many flashlights. All inappropriate actions have consequences. If not for THAT there would be no issues here.
Sorry

BTW, the fact that thread on 6D has drifted off topic is just so poetic. Perfect proof as to how irrelevant a 6D Mag has become!

I always like to keep back-up cells for any light, especially ones with high capacity cells. Do you realize how LONG it takes to charge a 10,000mAh cell? So technically it would take 2 sets of those Imedion, at the $180 price point, unless the back-up set could be Alkalines… depends on if a daily use were required like for a security guard, then the Alkalines wouldn’t do.

Part and parcel though, when you have a demanding need you need the tool that can survive, right?

Indeed, all roads lead to Rome

Run time and the ability to use it as a bludgeon, very advanced sell points. Sure, we have smaller lights that make more output, but they can’t touch 71 hours on high for a run time.

Cells, proper use thereof.

How many lumens does one get for 71 hours?

Just run it on one or two 26650s, and fill in the rest of the tube with molten lead.

MOLTEN LEAD?! :open_mouth:

They’re saying high, 694 lumens, runs 71 hours. Low is 73 hours, Eco is 177 hours. Low is supposed to be some 163 lumens, Eco like 76 lumens. 76 lumens for over a week constant! (7.36 days)

This was already shown, but here it is again for those that didn’t quite grasp it the first time. This is the thing about a MagLite, they aren’t trying for bear killing intensity, but useful reliable light for a LONG time!
