handschmeichler 4.0

Hi,

i would like to share my latest prototype - the handschmeichler 4.0. Goal was to build an edc that will fit inside the small pocket on the right side of your jeans.

Some technical details about the hardware:

- 1 x 128 Gbyte USB Storage

- 1 x Atmel 32u4 µC

- 2 x Osram Oslon high Cri

- 1 x Osram Oslon Deep Red

- 1 x Nichia NCSU276A

- 1 x Bosch BME280

- 1 x TCS34725

- 1 x ADXL345

- 1 x selfmade 7135 driver

- 1 x Oled 128x32 Display

  • 6 x tritium vial

it can messure:

- air temperatur

- air humidity

- air pressure

- altitude

- brighness in Lux (very accurate)

- light color in kelvin

- max lux memory

  • angle (spririt bubble)

to turn on the light, there is a classical switch on the side. to change the brighness there is a poti beside the switch. to change the color from white to red or 365nm uv you have to long press the button when first page (flashlite page with battery status, brighness level status and led color information) is displayed.
to change to the next display site you have to short click. each page have some special function with long oder doubleclick.

the software takes more then 40 hours to complete. i´m not a complete noob in that, but also no specialist. the mechanical side takes more then 50 hours to complete. there was many work to fit all parts inside. the display circuit board alone tooks more the 3 hours, cause there was a lot to do to small down to fit inside.

Thanks for Looking, Markus

HOLY CRAP THAT IS ONE AWESOME BUILD! HOW MUCH FOR IT?

Looks fantastic, not cheap I’m sure, what sort of battery is in side and what capacity is it?

I’m guessing it’s lithium polymer. But I could be wrong hehe

Hi,

350mA lipo battery, charged via usb. parts only are arround 400euros…

markus

Wauw this looks fantastic!
Very impressive.

Damn! 400€… If only there’s DAC/AMP as well heehee

Hi, no more space inside available. also program memory 32kbyte is complete full, only a few byte available.

Size is 60x40x8mm

That is quite different from the average flashlight, a great custom build! Out of curiosity a few questions:

-what are the drive currents for the leds?
-are those small lenses before each led? and if they are plastic, does that interfere with the output of the Nichia (365nm version?)
-I’d love a look at the inside!!
-(my pet-subject  ) you state that the luxmeter is very accurate (accurate luxmeters are tricky to make), what sensor did you use, what is the Vlambda curve of the sensor and how does it deal with light that comes in from an angle (I see it has no diffusor)?

Looks awesome.

Hi,

- current for the white is 1050ma, red-700ma, uv-700ma.

- all glass lens

- i will make some pictures these days…

  • yes, you are right. it is important that you messure with the right angle

datasheet:

the sensor can also messure rgb values, so there are some things more possible. first i´d like to include a rgb led, but i discarded that cause the space is really limited.
i did some messurements compared with my lx133 luxmeter, and the results where pretty good for this smal device. i don´t say this is accurate by <1%, but good for make some messurements when outside.

400 Euros!!! :smiling_imp: Catch it if you can! BTW nice little thing.

Oh my goodness.

Ein grosse envy ich have.

Zpekdacular.

Group buy 98% discount ?

I just watched the video. Man, that is small! You fit a lot of cool features in such a tiny package. Beautiful work!

Beautiful design, a work of art.

Cooles Teil!! :crown:

Wowser! You are one talented craftsman/designer/programmer/electronics guru/+. Congrats on that beautiful creation.

unpackbar cool!

great build

Very nice.
