If we have em located, why couldn’t Simon simply purchase what he needs direct from the source? Pay shipping once.
I DHL’ed a package to China early this month for a cool $100. Shipping was more than double the price of the light in the box. Even with a 30% off discount, it was still $68. Just saying. I mean, y’all ARE wanting him to build the light THIS YEAR, right?
Edit: Wondering too, just how many might be needed? 50? 100? 200? Anybody here gonna order 200 expensive emitters then forward them on with additional shipping costs? Doing business get’s complicated, a business can do things Internationally that an individual might have trouble pulling off. Customs, shipping, time delays, all sorts of issues crop up.
High CRI and neutral XHP50 are definitely available for purchase on Taobao. So XHP70s must be there too. So I’m wondering what exactly Simon’s problem is?
My primary goal here absolutely is for Convoy to deliver an excellent out-of-the-box light. I’ve mentioned many times that I myself cannot mod a flashlight so you better believe I’m looking out for those like me. Obviously I keep all the modders in mind too as that’s what BLF is all about. He (Simon) sounds a little iffy on the MT-G2 thing but he hasn’t said no. I’ll keep everyone posted.
Well, if you guys do manage to get either and preferably both high CRI and NW emitter I’d be really interested in this light.
How quick of a double tap to strobe? I often find myself cycling through modes on my Lumintop SD75 (which I’d love to replace supplement with this light with high CRI) and often ending up in strobe mode, which I almost never want.
I’m very happy to do what I can and I appreciate your understanding. I thoroughly enjoy this. As awesome as Convoy is, Simon is still doing most of this himself with the help of a handful of workers to help him assemble. He doesn’t have the financial backing of a big company. He’s just a guy that started his own flashlight business. He worked for an LED encapsulation company before all this which is where the flashlight spark probably took hold. He’s done well but when it comes to business in China he is still a small player. Buying LEDs from Cutter simply would not be an option. We will keep steadily moving forward but I must ask for a bit of patience from the BLF community. I thank you all for supporting Convoy. Simon is a cool guy who started an excellent (IMHO) flashlight company and through an unexpected chain of events I find myself here. It’s given me an opportunity to play a role in the flashlight world that I never expected and I like it here!
I think a lot of us here appreciate Simon, Convoy, and you. We all have our wishes and dreams about some super light that could be possible. Don’t worry, we will come back down to reality eventually, but we want to dream first.
If it wasn’t for the flash setting i’d really like it. I like how it is the complete package: charging, USB ports, LED charge indicators, tripod socket.

It’s May Day Holiday over there, so once again we have a National Vacation day standing in our way and creating havoc. The next couple of days should show people trickling in back to work, hung over and sending out excuses but back at work.
You guys crack me up. Now everyone’s like “Don’t bother him or he’s gonna get mad.” Nothing wrong with asking questions.
As Dale mentioned, May Day is just winding down in China. Holidays over there are different. A one day holiday seems to mean 4-7 days of delayed business. Simon just sent me a string of emails over the last few hours and now I’d imagine he’s sleeping so no more will come until tomorrow. I don’t have a listing date to announce yet but I imagine it should be any day.
I did get the very good news that Simon found a source for neutral XHP70 emitters in Hong Kong. I don’t know the exact tint/bin yet but he said 5000K which is what I was asking for so this should be good. He said he will be purchasing them after May Day. More news when I have it. Cheers!
