GB: Copper C8 head for 25mm Khatod Quad optic, 24mm Carclo's

I’m still in for the kathod…

Man I wish this was a full light…

Hypothetically… If it were a full light… would we want side E-switch? Remote tailcap E-switch? Dual switch? Or if clicky only: a Judco 10A switch? Or button cell powered fet tail? Standard MTN fet +1 driver or Dr. Jones H17F or LD2-?

Can you tell I’m hung up on switch options?

I had always figured I’d go one of two routes with my first light: a huge spotlight with like 12 aspherics, or a copper 10440 fet light with at least three things I could patent but probably wont bother to.

How did I miss this thread? I’m in for one however you end up doing it.

I know right. I was thinking this is the price AFTER it went up?? For a made from scratch custom head. 2 metals and neither is aluminum… Heck of a deal in my book.

I think just the fact that its convoy compatable is great. Convoy is the BLF Surefire if you ask me. Having parts and switches and legos to go with them is just another bonus.

Subscribed.

Pick the best then then GO AHEAD AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!

Interested. I haven’t purchased a c8 yet because I don’t really like the head. This might just make me buy one.

A note… thought it might be worth stating some of what goes into making any of this stuff with copper. I just took on modding an X6/X5 for an old friend from the other place and let me tell you, it’s work! I spent 4 hours in front of the lathe making 2 heatsinks from Tellurium Copper, then 3 more hours assembling the Triple X6 and Quad X5 with spring bypasses and all. Maybe people that don’t have a lathe don’t realize the hours it takes to turn something out of that bar, but it DOES take a lot of time and effort. A CNC machine has to be programmed, programs have to be written, tested, fine tuned and tweaked. It’s not magic, it’s work. To make a complete head of the caliber represented here for $44? Insane!

Go look at prices on large enough round stock to make this stuff… I paid $96 for a 12” bar of Tellurium Cu. And then there’s the optics and mcpcb and lens and and and… See? He’s giving away his time, as I so often do, and barely recouping parts costs.

There should be 200 people lined up for these, if only y’all knew what he’s offering here…

2 quad copper for me. I’m in

Yup, still in. I spend a bit of time thinking about switches. Came up with a mod for one of the small switches Match used to mod the tail cap of a AA minimag to handle more than just 1/2A. It’s in process but changes the internals so the spring doesn’t carry the bulk of the current.

I am in for a whole copper quad host light or two. That sounds fantastic! I would be happy with a mechanical clicky. Those tube patterns look very nice. Prefer the one on the right slightly more but would be pleased with either

I’m in!
It would be my very first multi emitter light, so why not go for a very special one?

Ya and that is for only 1.5” diameter. The cost grows exponentially as you go up in diameter.

I, uh, kind of jumped the gun on this gorgeous copper head. I have in my possession Grade 2 Ti for a tube and tail cap.

Whaaaat? Cu and Ti, the Gold and Platinum of the Budget Realm!

$31 for 1 kg? :open_mouth:

Yeah, exactly that face right there! And then you make curlies of a good portion of it that fall in the box…

How much of that tubing you got Dale? Hoop machines the head and you machine the bodies? Put me on that list!

Hahaha, I don’t even know if I can machine it! I got a foot of tubing for the battery tube and a couple of inches of solid bar stock for the tail cap. Positive mental attitude and all that… VERY eager to see this awesome CNC machined copper head! The 3D rendering looks awesome, can’t wait, might have to get some XHP-50’s to put in it.

Edit: Oh snap! 24mm, 50’s won’t work. My bad!

Khatod quad optics have extended height, it can be changed with some single optics. For example, Ledil C11421_IRINA-RS have very similar dimentions.
