GB: Copper C8 head for 25mm Khatod Quad optic, 24mm Carclo's

I’m in!
It would be my very first multi emitter light, so why not go for a very special one?

Ya and that is for only 1.5” diameter. The cost grows exponentially as you go up in diameter.

I, uh, kind of jumped the gun on this gorgeous copper head. I have in my possession Grade 2 Ti for a tube and tail cap.

Whaaaat? Cu and Ti, the Gold and Platinum of the Budget Realm!

$31 for 1 kg? :open_mouth:

Yeah, exactly that face right there! And then you make curlies of a good portion of it that fall in the box…

How much of that tubing you got Dale? Hoop machines the head and you machine the bodies? Put me on that list!

Hahaha, I don’t even know if I can machine it! I got a foot of tubing for the battery tube and a couple of inches of solid bar stock for the tail cap. Positive mental attitude and all that… VERY eager to see this awesome CNC machined copper head! The 3D rendering looks awesome, can’t wait, might have to get some XHP-50’s to put in it.

Edit: Oh snap! 24mm, 50’s won’t work. My bad!

Khatod quad optics have extended height, it can be changed with some single optics. For example, Ledil C11421_IRINA-RS have very similar dimentions.

Perhaps kiriba-ru, but not when one has inspiration for a Quad XHP-50.

For somebody one big led can be enough.
4 xph-50 from 2x18350? 2 minuts of brightness?

My D80 ran much longer than 2 minutes. And it doesn’t have to be 2 18350’s. There’s always options.

Situational demands, sometimes the first few seconds are the one’s that really count the most.

True enough, but for some others shock and awe are the goal. Not every flashlight in one’s collection has to be practical.

Im in for Copper C8 head with Khatod Quad optic.

Does that mean you’re making a long tube for the C8? :stuck_out_tongue:

I make whatever a whim guides me to make. Y’all oughta know that by now! lol I already have a long tube C8, it’s a 304SS tube made for me by Bucket that is presently attached to the half pound copper pill melded to a C8 head.

As long as the tube has male threads on both ends I can make a longer two cell tube from it. Solarforce L2X is more difficult since it has less overlap in the head but a 2x18650 C8 is no problem. I’ve only done the 502b that way so far because I added so much copper to it to handle the extra heat. This head will be ideal for an extended tube since it will already be made to handle the extra wattage. I have a feeling that a few of us will be doing different versions of 2x18XXX tubes for this puppy. I’m a bit jealous of those with a lathe but in all honesty I wouldn’t know what to do with one if I had it and enjoy the challenge of getting by without one.

If your head was compatible with Solarforce bodies (like the Solarforce M3/K3 head), then we can pick either tail clicky (L2) or side clicky (L2D).

If your head was compatible with the Solarforce M7, that would give us a dual clicky setup using a really nice thick M7 body.

In general, IMHO I think Solarforce bodies look better-finished than Convoy bodies so just making a suggestion…

Solarforces are expensive hosts. I’m not huge on the idea of making heads for all sorts of lights, but like VOB said, Convoy is the SureFire of BLF.

I can do a complete host. Miniaturized Judco 10A switch in the tail, illuminated tailcap ready. For now I don’t have a problem keeping compatibility with Convoy C8 V2 V3, but if they change the style of the threads to a modified square profile like the C8S, I will drop compatibility and switch to ACME threads and call the platform by another name.

SOLD!

Im in for one. Will the standard c8 bezel be able to thread onto this? Thanks.
