Convoy L6... XHP70 Beast!

Hey guys!

I have a question regarding the batteries. Will this light support both protected and unprotected cells, and if so, which ones would you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Great question, especially for those of us who intent to use the stock/unmoddified version!

Photon gun or Light cannon

“Big Mo”

I’m not the best person to recommend batteries but Simon told me he tested this light using KeepPower 5200mAh cells. He also included several pictures.
In the picture below the L6 is posing with two KeepPower 5200mAh protected cells so I’m going to guess that those are the cells he used so it should support both protected and unprotected cells. Keep in mind of course that whatever cells you buy have to run in series so completely flat top cells will not work unless you use a magnet or something to make the connection from cell to cell. Some flat top cells are raised just enough to run in series. I think the purple Efest 26650 may fall into that category. Good stores like Mountain Electronics will usually state in the battery listing if a flat top cell is raised enough on the positive end to be run in series. Seeing as this is a current controlled driver based light I do not think you’d see any real gains by going ultra-hi-drain versus something with good capacity.

I’ll let the more experienced people take it from here and correct me if I misspoke in any of this.

Edit: Dale will probably be able to post numbers from a few different cells when he receives his but probably only in the unprotected varieties.

I don’t think you’ll find many protected cells at Dale’s house.

Hey! I resemble that remark! I’ll have you to know I have 5! :stuck_out_tongue: Three AW Protected 18650 1600mAh in my Solarforce S2200, one in my wife’s PD’1, and one in my son’s little EDC from his grandpa. So there.
(I think that comes out to about 2% of my cells are protected. )

+1 Yes! 5000K please !!
That would surely seal the deal for me :money_mouth_face:

I believe this form of torture is prohibited by the Geneva convention? :open_mouth: :person_facepalming:

HA! Well sir… I stand corrected. 2% corrected to be exact. I have a few protected cells as well. One in my son’s blue S2+ and the other in my wife’s purse… in her red S2+ if we’re being specific.

At rough count I have around 220 cells.

I really like the new design style of L2 and L6, but I like my C8 for it’s size and features. Is it possible in the future that the L series will be extended with a C8 size little brother? I think the lot of fins on the head of L2 and L6 is also will be good in that size and looks very nice in a single 18650 form. And I think a lot of people will buy it if Simon make it. Just an idea

Whelp neutral XHP70, i’ll have one of these eventually. :frowning:

Hey,
just a tip: get a Kronos X6/BLF X6-SE if you need a very compact yet very powerful single 18650 pocket thrower.

CU,
K.

Packaging looks nice.

I have a BLF D80. And a C8 with XPL-HI and A17DD driver, thanks. I prefer more the look of the L6 then the X6.

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Excellent, can we expect a full review?

+1 I would like to see this happen as well!

me too

I need some time, and to take some pics but absolutely. It out throws the BLF D80 with XM-L2 and A17DD.

Without wishing to create controversy. Out of those who want a particular led tint. I do not understand the much excitement with this flashlight. In my opinion the Thorfire S70 is better for some reasons…

Built-in voltage indicator on the mode button

Big head, throw more.

More accessories included.

Cheaper.

S0S mode. It is always better to have it than not having it, and with more reason when it is hidden.
