GB Oficially closed/// Maxtoch 2X Shooter (new version)

This looks great, a light developed for hunters is subtly different to most enthusiasts throwers so this is great news.

Lightweight, massive throw and great tint. Take my money!

Updated in OP also……….

The New 2X hit Aliexpress today. Maxtoch will be doing an “introductory” pricing other than what is listed ($93.50 regular price)from what I understand.
Also I am talking with Amanda at Maxtoch about a possible Group Buy for the forum , so unless you just can’t stand to wait a few more days then here is the link with the regular price.

Omg. $NZ134.

ORDERING VERY VERY SOON.

That’s an awesome price for such a beast.

robo819, whats Maxtoch’s method of dedoming this emitter?

I am not sue how they dedome the emitters, that is something Maxtoch probably does not like to discuss pucblicy, you know like a trade secret.
I am sure they will be done just fine though , as they have been dedoming U3’s for sometime now in the M24’s.

Do the heads interchange?
If so, will they consider just selling the new head for us who bought the sniper?
Thanks
Keith

I have been waiting on this light since you and mudgripz were talking about it in the M24 GB thread. This and the Convoy L6 will make for a great combination

Muto,
All I can do is ask if they will sell heads separately and let you know.

This is only my opinion but , I don’t see it saving much to be honest maybe 10 bucks over buying the whole light, and then you have double the wear on the head threads and the tube threads on both changing the tube out.

How is the tiny shift in these DD U3s? If they release a XP-L HI version will it have huge lux drop?

The 2X started out with XP-L Hi and a 6amp driver in it to achieve the same 360 to 370K lux output that the 4.5 amp with dedomed XM-L2 U4 1A is doing. The 6 amp version also required a stepdown after 2 to 3 minutes where the 4.5 amp version does not. Also longer run times with the 4.5 amp version.

I also tested my M24 with 4.5 amp driver and XP-L Hi in it originally , from the GB I did last year. It also had a signifigant gain in output when the emitter was changed to the dedomed XM-L2 U4 from the HI. the M24 goes from 250K lux to 300K lux with the simple emitter swap.

The U3 emitter will be about 10K lux less then the U4 I think.

The introductory price for the 2X of $88.83 (regular price $93.50) is up and working on the Aliexpress site , this will be good through May 8th.

Also I am talking with Amanda at Maxtoch about a possible Group Buy for the forum. This would consist of making a list and waiting to get to the minimum number of pieces (not yet determined) to get the GB price. I am shooting for an even lower price than the introductory offer of $88.83 , but I can make no guarantees that it will go any lower than the introductory price is now.

So if you are wiling to gamble on a lower price or the numbers being high enough after this introductory offer , the choice is there, we just gotta decide to gamble on , save 5 bucks now , or gamble on getting enough names for the number of required pieces for a GB.

Best information I can give ya for now folks but I am tryin.

My budget is shot this month so I’ll take a gamble on it being a lower price next month in the group buy.

In for the group buy Robo, nice work team!

Everything about this light is purpose designed for hunting - head size, tube diameter, light weight, optimized tint for best target picture down range, mode output ratios for different hunting tasks, runtimes, beam balance between throw/flood etc. But … I think its gonna be equally useful as a general purpose outdoors light. The light weight, very big throw, plus some flood will be ideal for that. I use mine alot for walking in the country as well as hunting, and the low mode (about 45k) is great for walking - has beam range out to about 400 meters max, and great for spotting possums up trees

The mode I find most useful though is the medium or hunting mode. This pumps out a whopping 260-265k (more than the Olight Javelot M3X-UT on high), and has great colour picture down range. I very seldom have to use the 365k high beam because medium is daylighting stuff at hundreds of meters.

I am interested to see what Dale, Tom E (who helped in earlier Maxtoch design) and other modders might get out of this light. I suspect 450-500k could be achievable if you are not concerned with runtimes etc.

Note Maxtoch have a remote switch and single batt tube available for this light.

I’ll wait for the GB. If it parallels the last one in size it won’t take long to fill the list, and for good reason. I’ve become nervous with some other manufacturers after seeing GB results but MaxToch impresses me quite nicely.

Phil

I just joined the BLF forum today so I can hopefully get in on this GB. I missed out on the BLF M24 GB and have been waiting on this new X2. The specs on this X2 are impressive. I’m still learning about the latest in flashlight technology and appreciate the work done by members of this forum. I just bought the BLF X6 Limited Edition flashlight and love the way it performs, especially its UI.

Nuts.

But what more can / could be done to achieve those numbers ?

I’m not a hunter but I want one. Count me in for a GB.
