What did you mod today?

Hi shrick, yes it was glued. I taped the lower part of the head to the body of the light (Gorilla tape) then wrapped the two parts in rubber and twisted the bezel off, was fairly tough. I have a very strong grip though so if you can’t do that you might have success by wrapping the parts well and using grips or strap wrenches or the like, maybe with some heat too. Be careful as the titanium finish would be easily damaged by tools. Hope this helps.

Today I destroyed 2 flashlights!

I did two simple emitter swaps. Both failed!

1. Manker U11:
Swapped to XPL Hi V3 3c
When I turned on again a small pure white cloud appeared over the rubber switch and the light works only in moonlight and low mode now.
Mode sequence: moon / low/low/low/low/moon/low/low/low/low/moon/low….

2. Lumintop tool XP-G:
Swapped to nichia 219c on 10mm sinkpad.
When I turned on again NOTHING!
I found a short caused by the reflector. Sorted it and now only low is available.
Mode sequence: …/low/low/low/…

Nice work today really….

Don’t worry WolfA , these things are in schedule
Now , what driver will you try on the tool AAA ?

I don’t know yet!
At the moment I’m looking at mtn-electronic’s 10mm offerings…

The bigger question is: what will I do with the U11? I didn’t get the pill out!!

The driver in tool is 10 or 12mm ?
At 12mm there is a replacement driver to use with 1xAAA.

You are probably right with 12mm! I was so frustrated that I just packed and stored the little thing…
But I like to drive my AAA lights hot and give them 10440s wherever possible

If you’re interested this is the driver :

Edit : This is 1 mode only
Also , check the driver mtn has on sale now , at 12mm .

It’s 12

I modded my #062 of 400 SS/Cu X6 this evening. I set it up to run a pair of 18350’s, it showed me right at 4000 lumens with a pair of low cells (they’re on the charger) A rested pair of Efest 35A button tops at 4.20V showed 5616.6 lumens out the front.

This is a triple XHP-50, warm white for color rendering. (Cutter says they’re H2E3, I forget where that puts em on the scale)

The copper pill section has an additional 10mm of copper under the CUTE-3 optic and T-Pad mcpcb Triple. So there is quite a bit of thermal mass with cooling fins, the 18350’s will die before it get’s too hot surely. I aim to see if I can machine an SS extension tube for the pair of 18650’s.

Finally got the head apart on my old V11R.

Replaced the 3,000K XML with an XML2 5DA2 tint. Still not bright by my current standards, but the tint is pleasing. I also lubed up the magnetic ring with bicycle grease (the stock ring had no lubricant).

Up against the wall. Physical limitations. The X6 head is too small, pure copper or not, to run 2 18650’s to 3 XHP-50’s. It makes a whopping amount of light, yes, but it also makes a whopping amount of HOT and the copper pill will burn a blister on your hand well before a 45 second Turbo step down is reached. So the limitations of the 2 smaller 18350’s are probably in line here, in the 3700-3800 lumen range.

This is interesting, as it’s not even as high as some HI Triple X6’s I’ve built and less than the Quad 219C Ti X6. Guess it’s ok to shoot for the stars, as long as we don’t actually knock any of em out of the sky…

The H2E3 is supposed to be a minimun 90 CRI at 5000K, these are a red/orange look even before shaving the dome off to fit under the Ledil CUTE-3 optics which doesn’t seem right. The output is a warm orangey glow (matching the copper pretty well actually) and while I don’t initially find it all that appealing it’s not so bad either after a bit of use. I ran it by the wife and she liked it, said it’s just different… Really Bright, says she! lol

Reminds me of the headlights on my first car, a 1951 Chevrolet Custom DeLuxe. lol So maybe the color of the output is fitting as this number 62 matches my birthdate, Aug 9, 1962.

Keeping up with the fun…

BLF-348 MT-G2 & recessed switch

:open_mouth: that’s awesome!

Lol, wow…that’s insane!

Awesome! But ehhm, where does the 6V for the MT-G2 come from? Button cells? 2x10180?

 Thanks. It’s totally impractical but i like doing this stuff, keeps me smiling.
1.4A from two 10180 cells at startup. Can’t wait till it’s dark to try it out.

Nice! It gives me inspiration for a XHP70 I have around doing nothing…

The definition of pocket rocket lol

Very nice

LOL, 2x10180!? That’s crazy! The ones I got from GB was like 70mAh or something, perhaps it’ll work as a flash for your camera? One massive but short burst of light, then it’s flat again… :stuck_out_tongue:

Speechless. The things some people do.
