GB Oficially closed/// Maxtoch 2X Shooter (new version)

I have a number of emitters I have dedomed with NO sealant on them. So far I have not had any of them fail or have any noticeable performance loss. I just looked at a couple of them and cannot tell where the older ones look any different than the more recent ones under the magnifying glass, with the oldest one at this time about 8 months and a good bit of use.

As far as how Maxtoch is doing theirs , I have not asked so I cannot give an answer on that.
They sent me the driver they are using to fit in my prototype and I got the Maxtoch board with the U4 1A from Richard and did the dedome myself.

Cheers robo
As you know personally I’ve been hanging out for this.
The price to performance ratio - or just the performance alone - is absolutely killer.

0.5 amp sure is bugger all !!

I’ll be very happy to get out with the beast. Which I have just now noticed has been sent ! Excited.

Robo, thank you for taking the time and effort to post that (and I understand it’s only a hypothetical/thought experiment). Some might think it looks weird, and I’m not very looks-oriented, but I think it looks sweet! LOL. I’ll shut up now. Thank you for the eye candy. I’m sorry the experiment didn’t work, but thanks for the news, and for trying.

First new 2Xs now arriving in NZ - interesting comments from buyers:

“Been using a led lenser m14 for last few years. The maxtoch just leaves it for dead!! Honestly Im just stunned as to how bright it is….Hoping to get out shortly and take this ”electric dog” for a big walk.”

“Excellent product quality. Stunning light output.”

365k is a helluva lot of light……

What the ?

They were only released 10 days ago !
That’s some lightening fast shipping.

Are those 365k tested allready? BLF m24 claimed to be 250k yet it was arround 200k…wonder what an old s4 will give in that reflector, i am quite impatient to try it out

Yes we’ve tested 2-3 at just under 360k at 6m, so 365k at 10 meters is realistic.

Maxtoch’s output claims are usually right on the money. The BLF light I got tested at about 248k from memory, so it would be very surprising to get just 200k from one of those.

Keep an eye on your meter - I’ve had to throw out two lux meters which began to read low over the years - no idea why.

Well i could be wrong about BFL M24 if i ordered just one, but i odered 4 from the original GB and 3 afterthat.
Latest samples were arround 205-210k but the first ones barely touched 200k, there was one at 185k
The price/usefulness ratio was awesom though

I will appreciate any info about the hotspot at 300 meters, and especialy its hotspot effective cover area agains M3X at 300 - 400m…i use M3X since i presume its well knows and owned in NZ

P.S

You have a great deer hunt in there

That’s odd - have tested maybe 30 in total over the years and they have always been pretty much bang on manufacturer specs for output.

I like Maxtoch head + Convoy tube crossbreed

P.S. Why is their name Max toch ? did they forget “r” (Maxto r ch) somewhere? It looks kinda stupid, everyone will think its a typo!

I think the Maxtorch name was taken at the time and they dropped the “R” when they started.

It is a lot better than the Uranusfire name though don’t ya think?

Is this confirmed for the final product? Is the driver/output regulated and the lumens output is constantly maintained and the light will go out suddenly or is there a constant decline of output over time like other unregulated lights?

Looks very interesting.

Thanks,
K.

Kusie,

Yes it will maintain full brightness until it goes off when left in high mode when the LVP kicks in around 2.9 volts.

It should be the same in any mode however , just with longer runtimes in Medium and low.

Cool thanks. I think I’ll bite
K.

A name is a name, where does anyone get the name they use? Easier to not question it and just accept it’s what they chose to call themselves. “SURE FIRE” sounds like something is guaranteed to catch on fire! But it’s popular enough with certain groups…

Robo is right, better Maxtoch than UranusFire

Really interesting to see this thread. 360kcd with XM-L2 U4 1A, with 70 minutes of run-time on high?(parallel connection?) Seems very optimistic.

I have 68mm od reflector thrower flashlight with 64mm reflector inside that does 340 kcd with fet driver, old xp-g2 s4 2b, 4.4a current draw.

I have witnessed to many pumped up numbers in flashlights. Hope this will not be the case… If everything will be like claimed expect at least 20 flashlights from me.

While I don’t have any of the Maxtoch lights, I would just like to point out the batteries are in a serious arraignment. I know it was corrected earlier but people still seem to be misunderstanding.

Yes, I corrected myself in an earlier post also.

The light is in fact wired in series.

From everything I saw on the M24 , other than what Mitko is claiming , the test showed the M24 at or around the claimed 250K lux. mudgripz and gadgetman tested those lights around that number as well as did Maxtoch.
I have never known Maxtoch to have inflated numbers on the output either as mudgripz also stated in an earlier post.

I can tell you also from the testing of this prototype and the factory model I have now , with what should be the final specs , or pretty darn close, it is absolutely the longest throwing light I have seen to date (out of the box and that I have used) with good useable spill right out of the box and NO mods or tweaks needed.
