Test/Review of Olight 14500 750mAh (Cyan)

Olight 14500 750mAh (Cyan)

Official specifications:

  • Type: 14500-750mAh
  • Model No: ORB-145P07
  • Chemistry: Li-ion
  • Capacity (mAh): 750
  • Voltage: 3.7V
  • Maximum Charge Current: 750 mA
  • Maximum Discharge Current: 2A
  • Charge Current: 300mA recommended
  • Charging Cycle: 500
  • Weight: 22.65g
  • Dimensions (Diameter x Height): 14×52.5 mm

Olight has lots of flashlights and the batteries for them, here a LiIon AA sizes cell.

The two cells has different capacity, this is not very good. The overcurrent protection trips at about 3A, this matches a 2A rating.

Conclusion

This cell is below average in performance, there is difference between the cells, voltage when loaded is on the low side, even for a high capacity cell and capacity is also a bit low for a high capacity cell.

Thanks for the test!

I wonder how many S15R owners use their lights without knowing there are other much better 14500 cells.

The capacity value for 0.1A discharge seems wired. I actually got one of these with my S15R. But I use it in the S15R only and have no other 14500. I’m satisfied with the performance.

I agree. Setting that table up is one of the few manual operations I have to do and this time I copied wrong values into the 0.1A field for one of the cells.

It is fixed.

These batteries are a freakin' joke. Their output voltage sags as if they were crappy Meco units…

I have a pair of TrustFire IMR14500s and coulnd't be happier with them. Fairly priced too.

Cheers ^:)

P.S.: looks like I somewhat necroed this. LOL!

Does it make any difference in the performance of the S15r, or does it only affect run time?

I know. That light is confined to the glove compartment of my car, and I am not using the battery in any other light.
Same with the Nitecore battery in the EA11 I occasionally use for DIY. For more runtime I put in a grey Trustfire (yessiree).

My copper Kronos X5 is for showing off (hèhè). With some WindyFire 14500 IMR’s I directly bought from the manufacturer (excellent CS!!).

Hm, kinda disappointing conclusion, I expected better results from this cells considering the name and price tag…

Me too, I assumed it was a high quality battery.

Why would a company put their name on something that will hurt it’s image?

Hi folks,

I just received 2 of these, but I can’t get them to work with the AA flashlights I have (that accept 14500’s) :

- Thrunite T10 (2016 model)

  • JetBeam Jet-1 MK

The batteries are charged, tested with my XTAR VC2.
They will fit in the flashlights but no light comes out.

So, with which flashlights do you use these batteries?

Thanks!

Can the problem be the fairly large top on the batteries?

Now that may be such a thing : it appears that the top is larger in diameter, but protrudes less than regular AA’s, as we can see in the following 2 pictures

Better take a look at these next time fellows: TrustFire IMR14500 700mAh (Red-Gold)

For single cell use 0 issues. I've recently put to use a well matched pair I had lying around:

$5.80 a pair on Kaidomain, quite affordable in other places too (FastTech, etc).

Or these other ones: Windyfire IMR14500 600mAh (Red)

Cheers

So I guess I have to buy an Olight S1A or S2A to be able to use their 14500’s  :person_facepalming:

No bad lights but a bit on the not-so-budget side :open_mouth:

EDIT : alternatives found

I’ve been using one of these as my first 14500. Performance has been less than I expected and this confirms it.
