All movement is relative so any point could be chosen as the cosmic zero, zero, zero, (and probably more). Somewhat like Fahrenheit vs Celcius only C is based on freezing/boiling of water at STP which only applies under certain circumstances so is just as arbitrary. Degrees K is less arbitrary but is unwieldy for everyday use. Trying to figure out some absolute velocity would require knowledge of where we are relative to some true center, assuming it’s not moving as well.
You’re right, it’s relative. I saw 1 million MPH explained a few places online. It’s our speed around earth’s core, plus our speed around the sun, plus the sun’s speed through the galaxy, plus the galaxy’s speed through the universe. Of course science can’t nail a reference point, but it gives a humbling perspective.
Yeah that is great!
And now imagine the sun is also in a spiral like the planets you see here, and then is our cluster of galaxies also in motion relative to others
So BAM let us bath in Aether now
Well, here in Dunedin, NZ, a new albatross chick was born a couple of weeks ago.
The name mooted was ‘Birdy McBirdface’. I almost shot myself upon hearing that.
