Astrolux M01

So funny! We are hopeless. This is a terrible light with so many faults…but if it is only $10, I’m in!

How many lights have I bought like that, lol!

Mine is shipped too!

So true… Besides - I like the name :sunglasses:

Yep, shipping notification here as well

Mine is on it’s way, too. With a couple of spare 10180’s in tow. :sunglasses:

I was lucky to get in on the presale at 15.99 each. I bought 1 of each.
They are already shipped. I now wish I had ordered a couple each at that price.

I am in love with all the little 10180 lights.
Between all the choices in material (Aluminium, Stainless, Titanium, Copper, Brass, etc)
for the CooYoo line, the DQG line, the Jetbeam Mini-1 line, Blackwater Kite line
and all the other ones I can’t get enough.
I don’t have any of the CUSTOM 10180 lights yet as those are much more pricey than these latest versions.
( Yes Houston, I Have a PROBLEM)

Holy Cow, I just realized after 2 years lurking around, this is my FIRST post.

Hi Guys and Gals nice to meet you………

Welcome MrTF. I think that calls for a group pic eh?

Thank you scrumpypaul. That’s quite a profile pic, only a face a mother could love….LOL

what is a “group pic” you are referring too?

A pic of all your 10180 torches together.

Here are most of them, the shelf queens, other than a few loose ones to use and play around with.

Wow. Excellent

Thanks, Yep, as I said, I have a PROBLEM……LOL

These are all in a neat little wood case with glass front. I have a little display holder it sits on. It looks pretty neat.

I will have to move them all around to fit the two Astrolux lights when they arrive!

I just get a kick out of how bright these tiny lights are. People I show them to are always amazed they can throw out so much light.

So, what are those? Rings ?
Is that your collection?

Well, I received my two Astrolux M01 lights today. I bought both the Nichia and the Cree since I got in on the 15.99 preorder deal.

First thoughts: Packaging looks nice. (not that that really matters), Lights look nice, shiny stainless.

I opened the battery compartment up and removed the small round battery cutoff disk and reassembled them.

Turning them on I immediately noticed that it is hard to keep it on the low setting. It likes to “bounce” from low to high or even off.
If you get it set (turned) JUST RIGHT it will stay on low till it is barely bumped or touched. Not good.

Both lights are the same and I know the reason for this.
LOOSE threads between the body and head.
There is an awful lot of slop on the threads you can feel it by wiggling the head while on the body with the light off.

If you are going to tighten the head down tight EVERY TIME and only use the HIGH output this would not be a big deal.

As far as the output, both lights are great. The Nichia, of course, having a nicer “true” color output compared to the “white” from the Cree.

Having compared this to other 10180 lights I have, I would have to pass on advising anyone to get one over the other brands available.
All because of the looseness in the threads between the head and the body.

It’s really to bad as this had the potential to be a nice light.
I’m just glad I got these for 15.99 each or I might have been even more disappointed.

What do other people think ?

Dave

i used some telfon tape (plumbing equipment) to raise resistance on loose threads - will check the M01 when i get one

Not sure if that would work on this as it gets the negative power thru the threads.

I might try a bit thicker oring if I can find one to fit.

Also, I did not find any spare orings in the package, unless I missed them.

Dave

you are totally right!

Got my M01 today (Thanks Neal and Bang good). :+1:

First impress… it is little to flicky in lowmode, otherwise a neat great small light. Love that rose tint of Nichia.

i also got mine

the “pill” in the head was loose a bit and acted as written above

then i fastened it using tweezers and now it works fine!

btw: its on promo sale for 19,99 now!
