This lantern is very durable and easy to use. It’s rather light weights about 5 pounds. The base is made from a strong plastic material and has rubber bumpers just in case you drop it or Bump it it acts like a shock ubsorber. The defuser on top is plastic as well so if you accident break it you don’t have to worry about glass shattering everywhere. It has a brightness of 300 luminous similar to a 35 watt bulb nothing to crazy that it will blind you but something to take with you to light a path. It is also ultra white light and a lot easier to see. The flashing light is great so you could send a distress signal if you need to. There are also two other settings a low and a bright. The hook on the bottom allows you to hang the lantern and use it for a lamp inside a tent. It takes 3D batteries and run approx 3 days. The bottom has a water seal and the lid needs to be lined up perfectly to close. Recent camping trip and couldn’t be more happy it was everthing we expected it to be.
nice review i have a similar lantern ( of a different brand name, but same style) and like the 3D set up. I had planned to mod mine to hold 3 18650 cells and change the emitter to warm white to improve its tint. The removable diffuser & top is a great idea for hanging in a tree or tent while camping.
I have a similar Lantern I purchased over a year and a half ago that uses Nichia emitters. I use triple AA to D adapters instead of D Cells. They seem to last a long time. So far they’ve lasted through 2 power outages. Each one lasting several hours.
I should mention the adapters are 3 cells in parallel, not series
I got mine off ebay. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the seller’s name. It’s been a couple of years. I’ll see if I can locate some.
Edit: I found some here. I’m pretty sure I paid the same ripoff price since they’re not common like the 2 cell versions. Most 3 cell versions are wired in series, so be careful if you look elsewhere.
I feel that dobilili should make his\ her intentions clear. Joined in 2012 and has made 12 posts. Is this review by the amazon seller themself or was it a freebe for a review? To me this looks like a lantern that you would find in a dollar store. Not worth it even with 10% off.
looks like the one biglots has for $9.99
looks the same.
and there are hundreds of varients of this favourlight (sp) unit.
i would have grabbed one had not a bunch of the etekcity ones show up at work.time to get modding….
maybe get in touch with the factory for a blf special?
they put enough other names on them LOL.
