XM-L2 voltage

hi
if i’m connecting lithium battery directly to XM-L2, will it turn on? even when the battery is fully charged?
what is the voltage range?
thanks

Take a look here: XM-L2 Vf graph

The XM-L2 needs much lower voltage than a fully charged cell to power on, if you connect them directly you will end up driving the LED to very high current and possibly blow it up if not heatsinked correctly.

thank you
is there any drivers that i can use them with 0-1 switches?
what i want to do, is to connect few switches / few drivers in parallel, so every switch addes more current. and i also want to get the max lumens possible from the leds.

Why don’t just use a multimode driver for that? Driver - Flashlight Wiki

you right, i will. Thank you

For maximum output I suggest you use a FET driver, and of course the LED mounted on a DTP copper mcpcb.

Later XML2 leds had a higher voltage requirement that would not handle high currents. Around 5 amps is close to the point of no return. I tested an XML2 U4 the other day and it blew at 5.25 amps, much the same as the XML2 U2’s I was having problems with. The voltages I dont recall. Its well documented here in a couple of threads.

hi, what’s better, the aliminium mcpcb or the star sinkpad?
i’m not from US

Hi akv. Copper conducts heat about two times better than aluminum. So for high current situations, a copper direct thermal path (DTP) MCPCB is far superior.

Based on your plans, questions, and responses, I’d bet you’re going to make an impressive light cannon. Best wishes.

 yes i’m hoping to make this. my planes is to use a computer/cpu heatsink cooler with a fan, so i think the regular/non-copper will do enough good anyway. i planning to use 10x17mm 8*7135 1-mode drivers, 28A in total. best wishes

ok i got it, thank you
