GBGB, LD-51 dual cell XHP35 Boost Driver, Great Price!

No 2 cells

I’ll take 2 please. Will see how it does in a Courui!

If it is a boost driver, is it boosting 2 cells up to 12 V ? Is XHP 35 a 12 V led ?
If so, I will have to rethink this.
Please add more info to OP for us non-techs.

Here it is, http://www.kaidomain.com/product/details.S025108 and yes the XHP35 is 12volt. I run mine at 16.8v at 2.5amps. Going to try 16.8v at 3 amps soon!

Updated.

@KawiBoy, how do you want to use the courui? 2s3p 18350’s? Or a special configuration?
I have been thinking to use the courui too but I cant figure out the battery config.

In this thing…

Depending on modes, I’d be in for 4-5. I’d prefer 4 modes with a low-low or moon, but I’d still buy with 3 modes.

Can you verify the drive current is 1500ma? I sourced these direct from China when they were first mentioned, never purchased because I couldn’t get an answer to whether the drive current was 1000ma or 1500ma, all I got was “between” or “either” those two, which is not how a CC driver works, should be one or the other, not “between”, and I’m not committing to >10 from a vendor I haven’t dealt with before without knowing the either/or spec.

Either way, good price, put me down for at least a few regardless of specs.

Thanks for putting this together.

ETA: That whole statement was not directed at you thijsco19, was reading back through the thread to make sure I hadn’t missed something, didn’t catch it the first time but I see now where I was unclear that sentence could have been construed wrong and could be interpreted as rude. I added the underlined/bold part to clarify. Sorry

Kick, anyone else interested?

Haven’t heard back from them but I will ask again.

How about running 2 XHP 50 in series? Because XHP35 is not easily accessible, I don’t know a shop that sales them, with free shipping from china, that is.
I think I will be able to cook something with those 2 x XHP50 that I have on route to me

In for 2 pcs, also please, be sure to remind me via PM when this starts, too many threads here

P.S. Atmel based mcu would be very very nice btw :innocent:

Don’t have a light that fits it (maybe th Courui) but maybe change a SRK to 2S2P with a higher voltage LED is a nice winter project.
So put me on the list for 2.
Thanks for doing this Thijsco!

Yeah, a quad XHP-50 2S2P from this thing would be doable, or just a quad XP-L 4P. But, at a max 1.5A output, don’t expect much. I don’t really see a good use for this. The driver is HUGE, requires 2S cells to work, and yet only puts out 1.5A? :weary: I guess I’ve been watching Dale too much. I have grown to expect more from less. :stuck_out_tongue:

I had the same concerns as DavidEF regarding the low output of just 1.5A but since Cree rates the XHP35 at 1833 lumens at 1.05A we should be able to expect 2000 OTF at 1.5A, possibly a bit more.

I’d be in for a couple of these drivers. I have a TK35 clone that would be phenomenal with an XHP35 if there is enough room for the driver.

In theory it should work, even 4x 3V led like a xpl should work. But the downside is they only getting 1.5A, that is not much.

But, if you have a big enough flashlight for a 28mm driver and 2S cells, you could just use a XHP-50 or even XHP-70 instead and not have a 1.5A limit. If this driver was half the size, it would be great for putting a XHP-35 into a 14500-size light powered by two 14250 cells.

Ah Kaidomain, forgot about them, every time I tried to buy something from them I got some unexplained error telling me that I can not pay with paypal (paypal said it’s ok from their side, my card issuer said it’s all fine, Kaidomain could not find where is the problem), so, eventually I stopped trying to order from them never finishing that first order, will have to try one more time, maybe they finally corrected what was wrong with their system!

Thanks for the info btw. :+1:

Well, I guess it’s more about tinkering than getting astonishing results, after all this is a bust driver, has to upp the voltage from (in worst case 6-7V) to 12V plus pump some decent current. I presume it will suck those batteries dry quite fast.
Actually when I think about it this driver is really only best for XHP35 LED, because for everything else like MTG2 or XHP50/70 or XPL/XML there are better solutions, for example for 4xXPL setup it would be better to go 2S2P leds with 2S battery or even 4P leds powered by either 2S or 2-3-4P battery, anything is better than boosting voltage for leds that don’t require high V. Right!?

Add me for 5 pcs pls….nice item for modding realy

Now, we do only miss Simon L6 SMo reflector, and we`ll wellcome the new hunting hand thrower king

Updated.
Total: 51 pieces, 49 to go.

@Texlite, I’ve put you down for four pieces if that’s oke? Gearbest said that due to some Chinese holiday’s the answer will be delayed.
Also since this is a boost driver it’s more difficult to maintain a constant current than a regular CC or buck driver. Though I do hope that it will have a stable 1500mA output.

@JohnnyMac, I’ve put you down for 2 pieces if that’s oke? That was exactly what I was thinking, a very nice 2000 lumens from a (somewhat) smallish led that will still throw.

@Mitko, Sounds like you’ve read my mind  , only downside is that it doesn’t support a sideswitch…

Count me in for 2 please.

Yup, that works for me. :+1:
