Fake NITECORE Chargers [2016]

Possibly. I am glad that everything else checked out. Thanks for the heads up and all that you do for the forums.

Bob

I recently ordered the UM10 and can confirm that the negative contact is magnetic whereas the positive contact is not (the verification code is also valid).

This thread made me a little nervous, since I just plugged my D4 in.
Haven’t taken it apart, but the AC-input socket, the spacing in the logo and the magnetic test is ok. The box is gone, and I didn’t know there was a validation code on it. But I’m pretty confident that it’s a genuine Nitecore product.

Appreciate your effort. Thanks!

In the end; as long as you are happy, it doesn’t matter if it’s a fake or real.

I got mine D4 back in Oct 2015.

The part where power cord plugs in is rectangle too. No clipped corners. Validation code checks out OK on Nitecore site.

Thanks for this thread. I bought a nitecore i2 2014 version a year ago and never pondered if it was a fake charger. So just today I checked the validation code and it is authentic. I couldn’t get it to validate until I realized I was adding the spaces in the validation code. :stuck_out_tongue:

I bought mine from EdisonBright® (notice the registered trademark at the end) via amazon. Here is the link.

maybe this is how we get Chinese do somthing about IP enforcement.

when the Chinese steal from the Chinese!

I recently bought ($15.80) genuine Nitecore D2 from AliExpress (I know it’ genuine from visual clues as well as magnetic test), it came in perfect condition and works great. But it came without a box (and so without a verification code) and with non-nitecore (but good quality) cable. I may be paranoid, but I suspect someone somewhere will be getting a fake charger in real box with real verification code and real nitecore cable.

So just because your charger passed verification code, doesn’t mean you got the real thing. Code is on the box and not the charger itself.

many clues on the fake although not all are that obvious.
I own i4 for some years. probably fake, not sure. don’t remember bought which seller and at that time still doesn’t have validation code checking.

just recently purchase D4 from ebay seller and use the validation code. nothing appear from nitecore site after click submit. already sent them email for registration to service@nitecore.com, no response yet.

update: charger is fake. seller id “afforddaily”. seller proudly admit it is imitation and want me to pay extra US$13 to send me another one as solution which most likely fake too.

Fortunately, I have not encountered a fake charger with valid code to date. With the up-coming new Nitecore charger series, I foresee counterfeit makers are going to dump of their products in the market before they get obsolete. Be extra cautious if you are getting one of those older models. Don't get too excited with ridiculous cheap price.

You might want to made a Paypal claim for it. Do not let these people get away so easily.

Where it says “Be sure to report …” on that page, that’s a clickable link.

Do that…

@hank & freeme, i already reported the item as counterfeit to ebay. Hopefully no member here will encounter that seller.

neg seller and ding stars.
but its funny that the unbranded 8 bay which if nitecore would be an i8 has been the best performing, most accurate, most consistant charger of this type i have used.
in contrast my d4 has been the worst.

Craaaap! My Nitecore i2 is fake and I’ve been using it for all my batteries since 2014 :frowning:

Positive contacts are magnetic and I just noticed they became corroded. Capacitors are noname.

Store name is superdigitalexpert2012 on Ebay.

I thought there is no fake nitecore product. Now I know.
what about nitecore flashlight, is there any fake light too?

Flashlights are much harder and costly to fake. MH20 and EC4 inspired clones do not bare NITECORE label.

Got my D4 from Aliexpress from a seller who stated that it’s “100% original”, with more than 1000 orders and very good marks for that product, I thought it actually is authentic.
Turns out you can fool the vast majority of buyers, because now looking at the negative feedback , only 3 buyers complained it was a fake.
It is a good overall fake, even the cable is branded Nitecore as are the capacitors.
Scratching the verification code only to find out it was used before (and now i see the exact same number was used for another post on this thread) googling the number also leads to other buyers with the same number.

Here are some photos of my unit:

I would rather have a coke in the evening…

.
Nowhere on the PCB does it say Nitecore or Sysmax

.
Nitecore printed on all electrolytic capacitors

Crooked soldering on the push button

The AC socket looks like the authentic one

And the verification

Sharing. I have a D2 and a old D4, both from the same seller.
D4 dont have the verification code in the box. Above the barcode, in the box, have a ’SYSMAX Industry Co. Ltd…
Inside the PCB its a SYSMAX too and dont have any Nitecore component. But the magnet test, cable and box its ok. The power socket its similar to my D2 above.
The D2 have the verification code, box, magnet test, cable, and more, all ok. But the power socket its:

Sorry for the poor photo, my cell phone its broken. If anyone needs I dismount both and take some photos.

Lol, I think I have an i4 fake that I bought from an ebay seller that is now gone. Time to throw that charger in the bin thanks to this thread. Will stick with Xtar from reputable dealers from now on.
