Group buy: Jaxman Z1 host [THREAD CLOSED BY ADMIN]

The build quality is nowhere near the Z1. The Z1, like other Jaxman products, is an incredibl nicely made light.

For many modders - I guess - this is no problem since improving lights is fun. Non-modders apparently prefer complete lights.

Here is a LINK to the complete light. Ready to go, no mods necessary; for any who prefer it. :+1:

I would love 1 of the hosts from the first 10. I was having cigars and scotch with some of my friends last night, and everyone wanted to try out my modded Z1.

I’ll probably be wanting a few more in a few weeks. Probably 2 or 3 more to possibly build and sell to my buds.

Edit: J Team, when you get your house in order, I may consider buying another one.

just out of curiosity why would one of us poor non-modders want to buy a host?

teacher , I was merely expressing my opinion. I have read the post and understand the English writing not the Chinese. Maybe you could interpret that?
I’m not looking for negotiation. How much did this host cost to manufacture? I’m guessing 10 dollars tops. If you feel that is a deal (as long as it is not the first 100 made) then by all means- it’s your money. Would you even know how to populate a bare driver?
What did I say that is negative? I was pointing out that an established American supplier has a zoomie for less money. No need for flames and that is not useless noise. This is Budget Light Forum. Get it?
And no, I have no practical use for a zoomie other than it’s just a toy to play with.

My guess would be…. you would not want to. :person_facepalming:
Which is probably why it was made crystal clear in the OP this Group Buy was “for BLFers with the skills necessary to build their own flavour of zoomie,”……
I mean, how much clearer could he have made that??

J Team is pleased to announce it’s first project.

Exactly. Esplain that to teacher

Solar , I completely understand . That is all I was doing also.

I want one host and one extension tube and one flattop connector (and a spare pill if possible) please!

That will be one hellova light with exchangeable 6V LEDs…

I’m in. Sell me a host and I’ll see what I can do with it.

Love that aspheric.

I’ve always liked the look of this one, not so much the zoomie aspect. At this price and as a host, I just have to… (ordered the X1 just yesterday… )

J Team,
Please see Post 16 .
If the first 10 do not get spoken for, feel free to go ahead and send the two I requested.
I can do the build and written review in a timely manner…. but the photos and video would have to be added later.
Thank you…. :+1:

Not getting this, but how much better is the machining compared to the Cometa? Specifically the zooming threads… any chance for a comparison video?

I only ask as I would get a couple of these later possibly if the machining is that much better, but only a 20-30% tighter zoom is not worth the price difference to me. You still have another $20 to drop in this light between the driver and LED…

I'd like to be on the list for one of the first 10. I have one from October 2014, with the extra tube, and resistor modded stock driver, dedomed LED, and would like to see how this new generation one differs, and how it performs with a custom FET+1 driver, and decent dedomed LED, fully modded up of course.

Really like they are including a lens cover now.

If you guys are so inclined to answer questions, you mention in the OP this is the Mark 5 version and there are several design improvements. Do you know what some of those improvements have been?

Also, some of the pics in the OP show the old name of "JAX", so I guess we can't be sure those are accurate because they probably would not be from the latest Mark 5 version?

Awful lot of idle chatter for this being an interest Group Buy post.

The optic alone here is worth over $35, with AR coating on the inside and AF coating on the outside that repels water, dust and fingerprints. The test sheet from the Optics Manufacturer is shown, with a transmission in excess of 98%. With the size of this optic, I’d expect the glass alone to be $75 or more. Look up Edmunds Optics and see what you can find if in doubt. The build quality of the host, the level of the anodization, this is an exceptional bargain.

As has been said, if you want one say yes and get on the short list. If not, there’s really no need to say anything at all. This is a group buy offered directly from the manufacturer. A first, I believe. No need to make it confusing with a lot of off topic chatter.

Thank you Jaxman for a splendid offering.

Wow I hope teacher really isn’t a teacher.

Never been a big zoomie fan, if I’m honest, but this light has always intrigued me, mostly because it’s so highly regarded. I personally think the price is great on this host. I mean, it’s a $60 light finished, right? So $35 sounds about right to me. So I’m in. I’ll buy the host and an extension tube please.

LOL, always right, in your own head at least….

I did ask you to stop PM’ing me, as they were borderline harassing. Two PM’s of 1500+ words all about you, and how correct you are, do not merit a rational response. The PM’s were even more unhinged than your normal rants…

Regardless, I was simply expressing my opinion about your involvement, guess you are OK with that from other members, but not me….

Back to the subject here, I do like this model, but would be more interested in a X1 host…

Wow, good work ruining a perfectly good group buy thread guys! If you don’t want one, why even bother posting???

Also, it’s laughable comparing the Z1 to a UF-1405… A Ferrari and a Hyundai both get you from A to B, but it sure as hell doesn’t mean they are the same…

Anyway, please put me down for 1 of these hosts please. Please confirm if the $7.50 postage price will also cover shipping to Aus.

In for 1 and extension tube.

Seems like the listing is already up http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/JAXMAN-Z1-Host-for-BLF/1812094_32676817032.html

It seems Jaxman is in that transition period where while they make very good quality lights, their name is not well known enough for most people to readily accept the higher prices that come with making higher quality lights. I love my 1405 but the lens quality is… not great and when it comes to aspheric hosts, it’s all about the glass.
