OK, OK, I'm in. Not the right season for waiting for your verdicts.
Curious if it will beat my UltraOK C8 Q5, which is driven at 1.75A.
Edit: The zooming action seems to be the standard push-pull, not by rotation (as described).
Edit Edit: I now see that the emitter comes quite close to the lens when zoomed out, so there is enough space for the zooming threads to remain hidden inside the head even when fully extended.
Comparing to my Manta Ray, which is very much the same body (only not focusing) and seeing that on this one the bezel ring looks somewhat thicker, I'd estimate this bezel opening to be about 36-37mm (Manta's is 38).
Well, that’s another light that will end up in my garbage or actually probably torn apart for parts.
This is the downside of buying from (all of) these sites. It’s also why I never spend much on any one item since you can’t count on knowing any detail of the product.
I know everyone likes either the push/pull or the twisty zoom for their own reasons, for me I find I want the light to be closer to the eye level (instead of “strolling”) –then I can us the zoom in and out with one hand and still have my thumb on the switch button.
I don’t like the build or beam quality of flood to throw lights so my only interest is in the optic and using it in fixed throw mode. Twist is much better for that.
Yes! I want to hear about it also- glass slightly larger lens and if it's overdriven a little in high mode like 1.5 amps or the same insane 1.7 amps like the OK Technologies reflector /thrower- could also be a great thrower.
Many say that for pure throw with an aspheric lens- nothing beats the Q5 .
Does anyone know anything better for ashperic throw?
Also is X-RE R2 a Q5 ? But a special batch/bin ?
I agree with GCbrian- I prefer a twist Focus mechanism for greater stability, quality- and to remain in place, etc.
