I bought 12 of them. As of a few days ago they had about 1500 of them in stock.

I would have bought the maximum of the 60W the store would let me (or 50, whichever came first)

At my local Home Depot, this is a special promotion by SDG&E (San Diego Gas & Electric). Last month the 60W equivalent HCRI bulbs were on the same $0.97 promotion.

I came across that same deal in Massachusetts a month ago or so.

Turns out this is a 2nd version of the original bulb and NOT the “4 Flow” The 4 Flow has vents in the plastic globe that allows air to flow past the emitters. That 4 Flow bulb would not do well in enclosed fixtures I’m afraid.
This bulb you just picked up has the glass globe but not the sticky silicone coating on the outside as the original one did that I don’t like. It also has a pretty massive heat sink for long life. That heavy heat sink is usually a plus, but sometimes a light weight bulb is better for certain applications.

Right now, dates toward the end of February are turning to a penny. Keep an eye on that 100W car inverter, it is just about old enough (03/01/16)

all the duck tapes (except the camouflage) are at the penny price now. i got the solid red and yellow last week for about a dollar. i found these mac and cheese variety today for a penny

I scored a couple of penny deals this weekend. It was on two originally $46 under-cabinet LED task lights.

thanks lichan for the heads up. went back to where i had seen these for about $12, and they were still there!

edit - i think these too have been bumped down due to a newer version.

oh master dchomak - how did you suspect that wiss tool would have penny’d out? it is a 0 price that does not seem to have a wind down schedule, and the date is fairly recent.

Actually the “00” price is the very first stage of a wind down schedule, IF there is a date on the yellow clearance tag. This tool probably had a 6 price and a 3 price too. It’s just that this one tool never had the tag price updated.
The first clue to me was that it was laying horizontally across a couple of the peg board hooks in the tool section. When I saw the “00” and the date I figured it was old enough.
And it was.

this guy didn’t have any prices nor was it anywhere close to its brethren. when i went to check the tools section where this could possibly have come from, i saw there was a newer model! something from master dchomak’s earlier wisdoms clicked in my brain and… see the following post also

i saw a box of these (only 3 inside) tossed into the clearance section with no prices. as the self checkout area was really busy, i did an additional level of check (same as with the above milwaukee torque lock) - i checked the electronics section and sure enough there was a newer version of this guy! so …

rule number whatever of the home depot penny club - if there is a newer version of an item, chances are that the previous version has gone to a penny - master dchomak has alluded to this in one of his many wise sayings.

Seriously, that is a heck of a deal. 2 - 150W equivalent CFL’s for a dollar!
If I found those I would buy a bunch, each bulb is 2600 lumen. CFL’s are on ther way out, but you can’t beat the lumen to dollar ratio here. 5200 lumen for a buck, are you kidding me? For certain applications this is a great buy.

Yesterday I checked those 100W inverters, still $3.83. Found a couple of other penny items though, including another of the chargers with 2 - AA cells. I don’t know where they came from, I had already cleaned the store out, or so I thought. Suddenly one more appeared.

stick at it with the 100w inverter; they should be pennying out soon - i got them for a penny here. and the 2AA chargers around here all disappeared when they hit the penny! as soon as you had posted, i went around to collect ones i had seen before - but no luck.

Well the one 100W inverter that was left at my local HD scanned for $8.83 last night. This morning it and the display tag for $27.06 was gone.
I will get one eventually.
