[2016-06-11] Crackdown on rudeness

Haha, thanks I’ll check those “scores” out.

Thanks!

I don’t want to game the system, i want the system to be a game. Perhaps thats why playstations sell so well

In my short time on this forum everyone has been very helpful and willing to share their knowledge.

I have yet to see a rude post. Kudos to the mods as they are the ones who set the tone of the forum and many thanks to the members who make the forum what it is.

Bob

Hi Bob, thanks for posting, I’m really glad to hear you’ve had a good experience so far. The truth of the matter is that there are precisely 0 moderators and only 1 semi-incompetent administrator on this forum, so many thanks to the large percentage of people that behave themselves so well around here.

If only there was a button for posts that convince me to spend money I had not planed on.

We need a moderator SB. How about DB Custom? He's perfect for the job and is here often enough to keep things in line.

And, everybody loves him.

That is amazing and a great testament to the members.

Bob

Is that like “if you want something done, ask a busy person”? Being a moderator is a pretty big obligation.

I doubt BLF really needs a moderator. It already does pretty well as-is, and just got a new tool for self-management. Let’s see how things go for a while and re-evaluate after the results are in.

Your right on all counts. However, it was getting a little sketchy here for a few days. I was not aware of any results coming in.

By “results” I think she means waiting to see if things calm down with this new arrangement. I’m pretty sure they will. Sorry that things haven’t been too pleasant recently. Again, as I mentioned, it was really due to a very small number of rude members that were starting fights and instigating otherwise friendly members. I don’t really think that anything short of a 24/7 x 365 paid moderator team could have done much to quell the flames when they were at their worst. Instead of adding more moderators, I prefer to concentrate on the root of the problem and reason with rude members and eliminate them if they refuse to be peaceable. I just sometimes need a gentle nudge via PM, or now with the help of the “rudeness meter”, to notice who is causing the trouble.

I’m ok with a benevolent dictatorship if SB is at the helm. He’s present but remote enough to have a mantle of impartiality. Any more active members, even one as well liked and respected as Dale would not have this.

SB, your the kind of person I would like to share a meal with and talk to. Your just a really good person deep down, it obvious. We are so lucky to have you.

The BLF forum does very well for being mostly unmoderated. There isn’t even a swear filter but no one goes around talking like a sailor.

I really, really appreciate that everyone is free to say the things they want to say around here. I like CPF for a lot of reasons… It’s history, incan and HID love, short arcs!, support of pro modders and made in USA products, but I do always feel one post away from being banned, and so I don’t. I once had a post edited and received a warning for saying “friggen.”

I actually believe this will quickly and effectively solve the problem. Maybe I’m too optimistic, but that’s what I think, and we’ll see. Again, this is a great idea.

Dancing a little close to the flame aren't we??

Looks like I'm pretty unrude!

Well, we all know you will need an extra one.

-1 = disable...

I could *ahem* “fix” that for you.

*click*

Hmm.

Does that happen if you get a rude point, the point expires, and then the original report gets cancelled? Just a guess.
