XML2 insulation

hello
i have a 7x reflector from a SRK like (SecurityIng) flashlight.
i thought to use it for a built but the insulation gaskets melted. each hole’s diameter is 7.1mm.
where can i get those gaskets for XML2?

I know BLF user Hoop was making some custom cut centering rings for sale. Maybe you can PM him?

Those are easy to find, you can get them in many varieties from either FastTech or Kaidomain:

http://www.kaidomain.com/product/details.S024676

Ok, thank you
Thank you both

Well, just looking at those links, I’m not sure they’re what you’re looking for. The Fasttech ones are 9mm and the Kaidomain ones are 10mm. But, with a little bit of looking around, maybe you can find the right size.

I would try these http://intl-outdoor.com/cree-xml-led-reflector-positioning-gasket-10-pcs-p-457.html

Should fit perfectly into the reflectors 7.1mm hole

By my measurements i think you right

Yes, i think they will fit maybe with a little modification on the 16mm part. Thanks

Ive come across the need for “custom” type centering rings and gaskets. Usually it would not be a problem for me to cut my own out of some plastic, but I can’t seem to find a plastic that will hold up to the heat.

Any one know of an every day typ plastic that would work for these type of high temp situations? Things like, milk jugs, packaging or other common plastic.

I printed a few on a 3D printer in ABS plastic and they hold up fine.

I prefer manufactured parts. It is important that it will be accurate to prevent light loss or optic inaccuracy. Led emmiters are very small, every little change can make a difference.
Parts also not expensive so worth give a try

I have a fairly large collection of insulation/centering pieces but still can have a tough time finding one that fits a specific light. Apparently there's not much in standards goin on. Mind me asking how they melted? Did you crank up the amps using the stock aluminum MCPCB and stock LED's? I can see that happening. Copper DTP should pull away the heat pretty well. Could be just the insulation pieces were made poorly to not take the heat?

I connecten the batteries directly to the 7x LEDs, 4x18650 samsung 25r (20A each). I tested them, put them on the freezer while they where on, but it didn’t helped and they melted

Ohhh, I suppose the stock MCPCB then. I've seen LED's de-solder themselves when I've done things like that in the past, while it just can't happen with copper DTP.

Good question. I have made some from what ever was laying around and haven’t had any problems yet. A quick google revealed that PET (has a “1” in the recycle symbol) has the highest melting point. It has a melting point of 255 degrees Celsius (491 degrees Fahrenheit). I’ll will have to try it sometime.

I like working with LDPE (“4”) & HDPE (“2”) the most for shaping. Both shaping with heat and by cutting/filing. But, they melt way down around 266F.
