Low-cost copper pills, spacers, optics, drop-ins (Updated 23/10/2022))

I just received my triple pill and triple spacer for the s2+, that pill is serious chunk of copper and sure will do nice heatsinking job.

Thanks Kirill

Thanks Kirill
I received my X5 spacers and optics today. Very nice packaging indeed.

I could probably order a few more things from you, but, it looks like we’re headed for a postal strike, so I better wait.

Got my x6 spacers today. Can’t wait to get building

Ordered 4 copper pills for S2+ single emitter. All items were protected very well in the package.

I personally do not mind the dark rings. Just for experimentation i tried goo gone with a brush and was able to remove the dark rings.

The threads are good no issue at all :+1:

B158 pills received. Very nice - thank you!

I`m still not sure that Khatod quad optics may work better with big leds than Carclo one, but seems that nobody wants to test them and lots of NA members want to use Khatod.
X5 is not good choise for it, but Convoy M2 looks like something very suitable.
Conv. kit for M2 will look similar to X5 for Carclo, with rim for pcb centering, and will consist from two parts (still haven`t designed upper one cause I think that stock 28x26x1mm o-ring should be changed to the thicker one).
On the other side, M2 spacer for Carclo will be taller and can weight about 60gr.
Which one would you prefer? Price will be about $10.

I hate the M2. M1 is way better. The M2 has that stupid deep shiny bezel so the lens is recessed way too far back. Same goes for the Trustfire A8… I don’t know why they thought it would be good to have the lens so far back in the light., and the wide shiny bezel is just there to cause an ugly purple aurora.

Peter, give me several minutes more, M1 is under construction.

I’m also interested in a M1 kit.

M2 have one more issue, I dont think this is good when ss bezel is rubbing glass.
M1 seems little bigger for 24mm optics as for me. I thought it can be used with 27-30mm single optics.
If making quad, hole between bezel and the optics will look not good, so in spite of the fact that it has a normal o-ring between glass and the bezel it would be better to make the second part (small ring from SS or brass) to hide this hole and center the optics.

Take your time Kirill.
In the meantime, I’ll talk about the Khatod. I’ve been experimenting with this because nobody else has. I usually post my builds and thoughts in the mod thread so others can decide. If I have a fail, I post that too. I have yet to build a light with the 24mm Carlco, but now that I have some of kirills kits, that’s next. Too bad Banggood discontinued the S2/X5 hosts. I had four on backorder.

I’m mostly using the 35mm Khatod because it gives me option for hosts I didn’t have before, since I can sand it down anywhere between 35mm and 25mm without touching the optical cones.
It can be tricky, and great care should be observed when installing since it was really designed for smaller emitters such as Rebels and XPC. The aperture is shallow and one must be careful that it doesn’t crush emitters such as XP-G3 and Nichia. So far I haven’t had any problems, but care must be taken. Next, I’ll probably try it with Nichia 219C and an M1.

This optic is just something I chose to experiment with since they’re readily available to me …$$$$ although a little pricy.

I will repeat what I have wrote several days ago.
I hate semi-ready decisions.
If I provide transformation kit, it should be “bolt-on”.
I understand that here are few guys that like to work with hands several more hours, but I will become the bankrupt if I will order parts by 1 or 2pcs in batch. Most BLF members are simple users, and items that I provide should be usable for most of them.

I understand completely which is why I’m pointing out that khatods are not for everyone. They are not “out of the box” ready to be plunked into a light. They need to be worked on and adjusted. I’m not even sure yet if an XP-L hi will fit in them. So as part of a ready to go “kit”, not the easiest way to go, and less experienced builders could have problems with broken emitters just trying to install them.

XP-L HI should fit khatod, but lots of lumens will run away.
Khatod 25.4mm with full spacer or with second part could be ready for use from box, but they cost a lot, they are not available from mtn or i-o and they will cost like a piece of gold out of N.America.
Almost same situation with tpad quad pcb. I still dont have any of them. Dont know where does member from eu get it, but it is defenetly not budget deal.

I think Khatod is made in Italy.

Yes, and I can buy 100 of them for 600€.
Im talking about place where custom builders can buy leds, pcbs and one optic with low cost shipping.

I would like to build a quad like yours, my first quad
Where did you buy the spacer, what size
Is the driver 17mm
Where did you buy the quad leds and what size
Is the host the new version

Thanks
Robert

Carclo 30mm TIR fits M1 perfectly:

Interested in a M1 heatsink.

Please mention configuration/optics in such comments.
