Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

well played

I was looking this weekend to get one of those, do you resell your finds?

Some times I give a penny deal away. Trouble with this light is that it is HUGE, more expensive to ship that what it cost when it was at the “3” price, which was $6.33.
There are still some TCP connected floods on the floors, at the full price of $39.97. All other TCP connected stuff was pulled though.
I suppose there is still a chance that last bulb could go on clearance. Also, radioshaq reports that the WINK bulbs are still at the 3 price in his area.

LOL I was referring to the Wifi Router :person_facepalming: Was that on sale?

oop’s
This being a light forum and all, I just assumed you were referring to the flood lights.
Silly me
No, the router was full price, $99 I think.

previously it was electricity
Last year I was into electrics and this year I’m into plumbing :stuck_out_tongue:

just don’t mix the two

So today I found another one of those evaporative cooler valves at the same place, but this one was an old one that didn’t have a tag on it but it had the number written on it.
Pressing the button for an item with no barcode at self-checkout rings up the attendant so I just left it.

What’s with Home Depot selling used stuff? Sometimes I find a fitting or something that looks old and/or even used, and they dont have a tag so they write the number on it with a marker. At the place where I got the 1¢ evaporative cooler valve, the box for the 3/4 boiler drains had only two of the boiler drains, which were both old and had a manky tag, they seemed like they were on the shelves for 20 years :stuck_out_tongue:
I once saw a bunch of 1” Sharkbite elbows that were obviously used for a while, but they were for sale with the other elbows :confounded:

Also I found an old hose bibb that someone left there; I think what happened is they had a hose bibb that was leaking from the stem packing so they brought the device with them to the store to get a replacement, and left the old one there. So I took it.
What most people don’t know is if you have a valve leaking from the stem, all you need to do is tighten the packing nut. It’s typical for the stems to leak after a while and all you have to do is tighten it a little. If it’s tightened in all the way and there’s no more squish left in the packing, you can just add new packing. Most people don’t know any of this so when they have a hose bibb leaking from the handle, they go out and buy a new one. A new crappy not-lead-free Mueller one from Home Depot, when the old one was a good quality Arrowhead Brass lead free bibb.

I use electrical conduit straps on PW pipe

Yeah, I know it is…………

We used to have a house like that

??

I have no use for compressors, but I finally gave in and went looking today after having seen you get so many. I found 2 of the 3 liters at one of the local HDs. Now if I were to get one, would you suggest I get this one or go looking for the pancake?

A few steps too slow… the locust got to most of the 4/4 ecosmarts that i had been circling last week at the 3 price. I knew they would be cleaned up by Friday, but wasn’t able to get there before that. Here are a few penny deals I found at clearance that the locust had missed

this one was from an earlier date. am already using it

I found 3 of these still in the regular bulb section. looks like the newer packagings are in multi-packs instead of these singles.

And found this below the clearance rack… told you guys i been dumpster diving without a care

I found 1 of the “174” bulbs (last 3 digits). It shouldn’t have been a penny, but was. If I remember correctly it’s date was 4/18.
Those other 2 bulbs I am not familiar with.
You are right, those orange locusts have defoliated much of the crop of penny lights. Here’s some other things to look for.

These are items that have been updated with new stock and new stock numbers, but look identical. The older numbers ring up for a penny.
This Black USB 2.1A car charger.
The one on the left with the number on the left top, last 3 digits 832, is a penny. The one on the right, last 3 digits 267, is 11.97 $7.97

Also This White USB 2.1A car charger is a penny. Numbers on the left, last 3 digits 601

Here is stack hanging on a hook. The 3 in the back are penny chargers
Notice the numbers on the left, the ones in the front are on the right and ring up for full price.

Also this. The one on the left, last 3 digits “894” in my hand is a penny. The one on the right, last 3 digits “878” is $9.97.

You may find the penny knives mixed in the stack hanging on the hook, OR, elsewhere. For example on the floor at the bottom of the rack.
The 2 look almost the same.

Rummaging the knife section is not an option here; they are all locked up. Will try to look through the glass to see if I can find any.

 I walked into a Home Depot yesterday and this display was the first thing I saw at the entrance.

They were wrong, that was not the best deal of the day. The deal of the day was the penny lights I found in clearance.

radioshaq, this mention of below gave me a great idea. I can’t believe I never thought of this before

How many of these type of clearance displays have we seen?

They are only made of cardboard and that cardboard platform inside is sitting pretty high off the floor………
And the cardboard is pretty flimsy and flexible, easy for stuff to fall through at the edges……….
So I cleared off one so I could remove the platform to see what’s underneath. :stuck_out_tongue:

All kinds of stuff! And a lot of it rang up for a penny. :money_mouth_face: Some other stuff was just stuff, so old it wouldn’t even ring up. And some others rang up for clearance prices or full list.
But there were 3 displays, here’s another.
Lots of lights, and for a penny.

more stuff

The pancake one is too small to do much other than inflate a tire or ball. It would be VERY handy for blowing air to clean, say. your computer etc. Very portable. $15.03 is too cheap to pass up. The included tools are almost worth that.
The other compressor is larger, 8 gallons and is almost too large to be convenient unless it can be rolled into place. On the other hand, it is too small to do any serious work, like run a dual action sander. But then again, at $33, who cares.
Maybe get one of each?

I just reread my post and now realize you meant the 3 gallon compressor with the handle. That one is small enough and light enough to be portable. More powerful than the pancake but not as convenient. Still, maybe get one of each. Both come with a coiled hose and tools

I got a message yesterday from a friend. A friend I just helped out by picking up some of those compressors for him. He was in a Home Depot and just spotted another compressor that has gone on clearance. This is a larger one and it is now at the “4” price. The 4 price is like the “6” price. It means that if it doesn’t sell thru, there is another, even lower, price coming. That next reduction will be a “2” price. The 4 price is usually 50% off list and the 2 price is half the 4 price, for a total of 75%. Then it is pulled and put at a penny.

The stores I have been in are still pricing this at $199.j Something to look out for.
Imagine getting this at $50.02.

Here is something that already is at the 2 price. Previously it was reduced to the “4” price, 50% off

This is a solar powered lantern and you can see it is rather large. $15.04 is half the list price which was $29.95
I was watching this, waiting for it to hit the “2” price, and it did.

There it is, now at $7.52.
Now that it is cheap enough, I bothered to look at it more closely.
The tag says it is 10 Lumens. Isn’t that about what we call firefly mode :confounded:

Since I posted about how to identify the penny USB car chargers I have had pretty good success. In my area, all of the stores have had the orange crews going thru the stock removing penny items and tidying everything up.
Here is a crew of 7 going down this isle, devouring everything in their path.
Count them, there are 7 orange shirts.

These guys were going down this isle, left to right. Luckily I beat them to this penny deal. Penny USB in my hand in front of the $7.97 one.

Scored 7 Black and 2 White ones here. Remember, the penny ones have the numbers on the top left.

I have found many many EcoSmart lights at a penny. Too many to mention. The next date coming up is the 4/18 bulbs. They should start to turn in about a week.

First house I ever bought needed a LOT of work.
So, I was first into electrical work, then plumbing, then painting etc.
It was a joke. A variation of the arrogant Texan who brags to his friend on how much land he has. He tells his friend he can drive all day in his car and never leave his property.
His friend dead pans, “Yeah, I used to have a car like that too.”
