Recommend me a 1xAA torch

Hello again, my people! This time, I’m gonna have to ask for recommendations on a 1xAA flashlight, because I got tired of the low battery life of AAA, and 18650 gets bulky as backup. These are the requirements:

• High CRI option (at least NW, CW is not gonna cut it)
• Reasonably compact, the more the better
• 14500 support not essential
• Budget-friendly, $40 at most
• Good runtimes for the platform
• Most UIs work, as long as I don’t have to hold the button to turn it off (I hate hate HATE that)

I currently have my eye on the Thrunite T10, since it’s a light that I’ve heard a lot of praise about, they offer it in NW, and I’m learning to not be prejudiced against reverse clicky (I learned that what I hate for real is “next-mode” memory). I’m certainly open to other suggestions, though.

Just for the sake of establishing a timeframe of relevance for this thread, I intend to order the light on the 25th.

Basic bump.

L3 illumination L11c with nichia

Take a look at the Jaxman E3. It’s a 1xAA with a Nichia 219B, either 5700K or 4000K. I prefer the 4000K tint. Not sure what the UI is, though.

+1

Thanks, but the sites I’ve visited that ship to where I live don’t have it in stock.

Smokin’! Seems to be a reverse clicky, going by the looks of the tail boot.

Is this link to Jaxman’s own store?

Yes, it’s Jaxman’s own store on aliexpress.

That’s very good. Now I think I know what I’ll be buying.

Thanks, fellas! :+1:

I have been very impressed with my DQG tiny AA in NW. The tint is good, the output very good and the run times are quite respectable for an AA. The Stainless Steel is a bit heavier than aluminum, but more durable. It is a twisty, but has a “tighten for off” feature that keeps the head on when the light is off…

The size is excellent, small enough, but big enough to use easily.

Got mine at Gearbest during a flash sale, but they are available from several vendors.

Good luck in your search!

That looks very similar to the Thorfire TG06 at least externally. No OPR with the TG06, I do see that. Not the brightest light, but that’s not it’s role or reason for it’s existence. I just got my TG06s so I can’t comment on run times and such. But it’s a nice little light if one doesn’t need a 18650 or 22650 sort of light. The TG06 is forward clicky.

Can you get it with a NW or WW emitter?

I’d be lying to you if I said anything about that. I simply don’t remember. For me tint wasn’t foremost. I’d google it.

NW and WW is tint right? Hey, I’m new to this and the acronyms have me scratching my head.

Check reviews to see if it has visible PWM.

TG 06 comes only with a bluish cool tint and ugly pwm.

Manker E11?

Seems nice, but the higher price and how bright the Low mode is don’t please me much. Still, thanks.

Ugh, do not want :confounded:

Oooo, good point. I can’t stand visible PWM, it distracts me like the dickens.

Correct. NW is neutral white, and WW is warm white (very high CRI).

You should check Selfbuilt’s flashlight primer if you’re as new as you say. He’s a lot of help.

Thanks Jack! I will, and I am as new as I say I am. So much to learn, but I’m a relatively fast study.

The jargon and the acronyms make it all so… well, it’s a different language.

Selfbuilt’s videos will definitely do you good, then. He explains everything, and not in a boring way either.

You’re welcome

But it is only about $10 with mad max’s help and the reversible clip is a nice feature
