LiitoKala 26650-50A 5000mah 26650 - great first impressions

So, wait a minute… Are there two versions of this battery? On Ali they are listed as 50A batteries and gearbest states they are 20A. Has this been discussed already? Sorry if so…

I am waiting on these batteries, but from the photographs they look like these would not be a good candidate for using in series. I plan on using mine in my single cell lights.

I am waiting too on the Convoy L6 but plan on using Shockli 4200mAh batteries; they are flat-top batteries with the positive terminal high enough for good contact. Not all flat top batteries can be used in series because of a shallow positive terminal.

Hmmmmm, good eye on spotting that. :+1: I have no idea what the answer is though.

I received 4 from GearBest about a month ago. They are marked like this. ( the black hand writing is mine of course. )

None of my first 4 work in series. I think bella-headlight said all his did. No idea what the difference is besides the obvious.

I have 4 more on the way from GearBest that should be here in a week or so…… maybe.

I’ll see if I can find any difference when they arrive.

PPDB22, the below is what I was told by a reliable source concerning your question.

With regard to the Liitokala 26650“s the 50A rating is pulse discharge & the 20A rating continuous discharge.

Ah. Ok, thanks. That makes sense.

Sure thing, glad to know myself. :+1: …

Oh man! I totally forgot about ordering two from AliExpress and they arrived today.
Since I was no longer aware they were coming I thought Gearbest f#*ked up LOL

They are on the charger now but when done I will compare them to yours Teacher (seems like I’m the only having them from AliExpress)

Hmm 2 heters 6 littokalas 1 On The Road 1 OrcaTorch = 10 (and a poor Ultrafire only used in testing)
Permanent in use 4 (L6/S70)
Nice to have loaded OrcaTorch and On The Road X5, Convoy BD01 and BD06.
I got two too much. Well one for the Z1 instead of high drain Keep power.
OK 1 for another MTG2 or Luminus SST 90 modded Z1. OK I am good, thought a sec I needed a new light

Just got my pair today from GB, first discharge test with my MC3000:

Discharge rate 1A, down to 2.75V with termination current 0.2A:
Batt #1 5,128mAh
Batt #2 5,210mAh

Great capacity and consistent IR. They DON’T work in series no matter how much pressure I put on them. This is the shortest 26650 cell I have, about 3mm shorter than a button top KK.

For the current price this is the highest capacity/dollar cell in any format!

Hmm
First mAh test done
5428 mAh 11mR

the other is still testing

Teacher posted

Mine are the same except for the last 5 digitsof the lower row
08344 for the 5428mAh one
and
20776 for the one still testing

I saw it stop the discharge test at 2.8V.
An overshoot of almost 10%, I only hope the other ene gets close or this first one is a Convoy filler. (And still no decent cells to fill both L6 and S70 with now.)

But IDK, the one tested came at 3.8V and the other 3.4V, and well it had to charge 0.4V more is now on 3.4V going down,

Was the test done in a Opus? I think the it throws a higher than actual reading when doing discharge tests, when I had my C3100 v2.2 a samsung 30Q yielded almost 3,100mAh which is unrealistic, the same cell in my SkyRC tested less at 2,890mAh even when a lower cutoff voltage and termination current was used.

I could test again down to 2.5V and at 500mA rate, probably about 50-100mA additional can be extracted but I’m not sure about how far can this cell be safely discharged.

No Liitokala engineer 300

I have one of those 1 bay Opus chargers that got good reviews, don’t like it, with this warm weather it gets too warm

Just love my Liitokala
(Though even when that is not as warm as the Opus it still is warm with 27°C where I use it so I hook up two small PC fans (1/underneath and 1 blowing over the cells with a piece of 10*10*0,8cm copper resting on that tiny fan and the cells))

Internal Resistance

HKJ wrote in his review the IR is not good.
I push cells up to disconnect and see it a couple of times
then go with the lowest and some cells are gradually getting higher (the ones I use for testing now that it is all lights with build in chargers)

Second done
5401

5428 11mR
5401 12mR
Ah nice, these seem close enough to put in the L6 then.

I use my chargers that give internal resistance and other parameters as mere guide lines; I would not expect a plus $30 charger to give accurate results.

I do use the results found by chargers like Opus as a way to match batteries that are used in series.

Yeah same here
I kind of think that using the same device means about the same faults so still nice comparison

And the four Gearbest Liitokala cells just came in
Time for more charging tests.

OK the first two coming frm Gearbest are done:

5355mAh 10mR
5450mAh 10mR

(Ali Express ones)
5428mAh 11mR
5401mAh 12mR

The last two ar now on the charger for testing.

Good solid results IMO, within 100ma of each & similar IR.
I think that your charger is exaggerating the ma”s a little but as long as all 6 cells are analysed on the same charger that is not a problem.
My 6 Liitokala”s gave very similar results, all within 100ma of each other & all with consistent low IR”s on my Li-500 engineer.
These have to be the best performing unprotected 26650 cells around at the moment & only $20 for 4

Yeah
The ones now tested are doing great (started out of their little boxes so the second maybe 10-20 seconds later and their mAh is 2 apart
Placing, waiting till 500 stops blinking, long press for discharge test and they then go up first.
This means the 3,8V they came with was the same on both (now at 1654 and 1652mAh on the way down)

Gonna beep the inside of the S70 later and if no beeps are heard like with the L6 (one probe on bare ALU the other inside tube) I’ll do the same for the S70 as I did on the L6 using a magnet and not glue it into place so I can deal top and bottom cell every charge cycle with just one magnet.

I ordered these batteries from gear best. My package is lost, it’s stuck in Chicago customs for 2 weeks now. I thought gearbest would have a reasonable reship policy with the insurance purchase. I should have listened to others on here who warned me about gear best. They want me to wait three months for a reship with the insurance. Even if I ever receive these cells I’ll just pay more money and never use gear best again. Most companies it’s a month or 60 days. But 90 days from shipped for a reship is ridiculous to me. I’d have no issue with 60 days. But either way I’d rather pay twice the money for cells then give them business ever again

This is the reason I buy from my own nation (U.S.) supplier almost all the time; I do,however, have the same battery purchased from
Gear Best.

My first choices in the U.S. are: Mountain Electronics, Llion Wholesale, and Illumination Supply.

My budget first eliminates aggravation which sometimes is difficult to put on a monetary value.
