Review: Astrolux MH10

Great review, thanks I didn’t know about this one yet.

Is this the “budget” answer to the Nitecore MH20GT?

Sure looks similar, different switch and UI but pretty much the same shape and size:

MH10:…………109mm x 32mm
MH20GT:………111mm x 31.8mm

Strange too that they named it the same as a different Nitecore model (Nitecore MH10)

What are the “lock / unlock” icons on the lower (most rearward) touch switch? That button is only used for ramping downwards?
I like the smooth bezel, but it doesn’t look shiny like stainless, what’s it made of?

………………….

I’m not sure how much I like this UI. No quick way to just change modes? Better would have been having at least 2 click-able presets (low & high) plus a click-able shortcut to the highest output without ramping or having to rely on memory.

Plus I think they got the on/off backwards - better would be single tap ON / double tap OFF, isn’t turning a flashlight on quickly more important than turning it off?

A real interesting light though, a lot of great attributes.

………………….

NOTE: The $35 price was only for the first 50 orders, not the first 100. (There are currently 65 orders, so now it’s up to $37) :frowning:
I’m happy to see the neutral tint is available for pre-order, hopefully they’ll have a pocket clip for it too.

side switches can easy make a light go on in ones pockets.
The double click is clever way to avoid accidental turning on since a rapid double lick is much less likely to happen.

No, I won’t expect all flashlights have functioned as location indicator, but IMALENT DN11 have OLED build-in, it should not too diffcult to add location indicator function. I guess I expecting too much from IMALENT’s OLED disply & UI! :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry, here were are talking about Astrolux MH10  . I expecting that I have for a incredible low price,….others “Premium” not offer this and cost more….I have not see you there expecting more……

Makes sense, I have several side switch lights that suffer the “pocket activation” issue because the switch gets bumped ….but this has a “touch” switch not a regular button. (like one of those “Touch Lamps” where you just touch the metal part to turn it on) I’m assuming that would take care of the “pocket activation” issue? But I’m not sure what it would take to accidentally turn this on.

Heheh my phones have had touchscreens for many years now
Even with slide to unlock I have called, changed settings, surfed websites and even send an email without knowing it while a phone was in my pocket

I thought Astrolux MH10 & IMALENT DN11 are same light with a different brand name. its cool :sunglasses: no problem, all good! I got your point!

You thought correct!

It’s exactly the same, as JohnnyMac pointed out above…

………………….

Here’s a good review of the IMALENT DN11, it may be helpful to anyone interested in the MH10:

……………………

I’ll call it a MH20GT clone with ramping / touch controls, and OLED screen!

everybody knows obviously what is the manufacturer of Astrolux MH10……

……………….

After some more thought on this The Miller is absolutely correct, it would be very easy to turn it on by accident if it was only one “touch” …if you would inadvertently touch it, which could easily happen.

Here’s a quote I found from Imalent:
“It is sensitive but it needs double quick press to turn it on, touch one time will not turn it on, so it is uneasily to be turned on by accident”

Nice review! Do you have pictures of the OLED screen in action? I always wondered if the pictures from the advertising were true, it looked so high-res.

It seems like immalent’s factory is the new OEM producer for astrolux lights.

This is my Oled screen in action….

(with bugsy36 permission)

I used to think all Astrolux were made by Manker, but I guess since Astrolux is Banggood’s “house brand” they could have them made by anyone (or just “re-brand”, as they did with this one by Imalent)

All Astrolux were made by Manker (previously models), but Manker is not as reliable as Imalent. Some of the last works of Manker have a problem of Q.control in my opinion, and I can think that banggood is looking a more reliable manufacturer for Astrolux ….

Thanks Trevi for the pics, it does look very high res, even the font type can be identified.

BG has many in-house brands, not only for flashlights but also chargers, electronics and even clothing. When a third party factory is hired they get to an agreement that BG won’t sell these products outside their store, and will cease to sell the products from the original brand.

lockout via tailcap is possible - but resets "last level memory" ;) which i do not prefer...

Like I have said several times over. What is not pleasant to me, nor good for me, does not necessarily mean bad for somebody else. Even if I do not review a light does not mean that I do not like it. I just may not have that light and my lights are not all freebies.

Seeing that there is no monetary gain for the needed efforts of my reviews I realized long time ago that time is precious :)

Finally :) "I" am NOT the final judge on flashlights. FrankenDale and Kawa-whats-his-name have me beat by lifetimes (as do many others like Jmac, etc)

I have accidentally activated clickies at work just as often, side or tail. Last night I did not get one activation with this in my pocket (the Astrolux MH10 does come with a holster that I did not use)

Not quite true but it is best to not to further "that" discussion.

banggood sell now a clip for this light:

clip mh10

This is a pic with my Nitecore P10 clip, in a Astrolux MH10, a standard clip for 25.4 mm light.

Cool. That will help.

Hey Trevi....I did not mention it but did you take notice of the holster that is included? To me it seems a lot stronger than the usual we get with Nitecore and Fenix and no comparison to the cheap UltraFire holsters.

I have the Imalent DN11 twin, mine became quite temperamental, it sometimes requires like 10 tries to start (i have no problem with timing double clicks), another con is that the ramping takes quite some time if you need to go from one end to another, i really want to like this light but after using it quite extensively it’s just not practical for my usage pattern, could be a great gift for someone who will use it occasionaly provided the switch on problem is just limited to my particular DN11.
