Thorfire S70 clone ?

Well I won an auction on eBay for a s70 clone, comes with charger and batteries. Only paid $32.56. It’d will be interesting to see the quility or lack there of.

Nice score Lund!..

Yeah BH you nailed it… Sigh
I fear some emails to Paul and Barry are due.
:frowning:

Old-Lumens discussed it quite a while back, there’s only a few sources for lights in China and the base lights get passed around and re-branded all the time. It’s how they do business. The factory can make 10,000 a month (or something like that) so they make em, spread em around to get em sold. Sometimes the finish is different, some small specs are different, but in the end, there’s just not that many flashlight manufacturers out there.

<—-built an SupFire M6 triple to ~5000 lumens back when they first came out. Have a FandyFire Rook with a hand polished mirror reflector from a couple of years ago. Have built several “soup can” lights for friends, which is how I learned to dislike them, poor quality, thin screw in emitter shelf, insufficient room for additional heat sinking of any real consequence for hot rodding. SupFire makes one of the best, which is why I still have mine (with an added tail clicky for lockout)

Does anyone know/have seen if Lattice Bright are producing an XHP70 clone emitter yet ?

Thanks The Miller, their were a few people bidding hope nobody from the forum, I’d feel bad. I will tear it apart and post pics see if I can add a resister, I would also like to add the l6 driver someday.

The jax is a little different it uses a XHP50 and is more expensive and the overall design is a tad different i think.

Well the ones bow available all have max bid of £14,14 from me.
I’ll check an hour or so before closing how they go
First check at 18h to see how high it is then (was outbidded but wait with more bidding till later  )
If anyone wants to start bidding maybe tell is so we can avoid bidding against each other

at this price the light can use as host for mod.

cheap price but unsure of the made quality.

I have a bid on this one :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5000lm-XHP70-LED-Tactical-Flashlight-Memory-Hunting-Torch-18650-26650-6Modes/172288206903?\_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&\_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D37449%26meid%3Dbb84b987ccbc43679a21467e270dee1f%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D172284993584&autorefresh=true

It’s at £14,64 at the moment

Edit :

Won the auction at £20 ($26,4), now the waiting begins.

There weren’t many options in the US ebay but this morning I saw this one with 5 hours to end and I bid $35 max, because I’m this impulsive when it comes to flashlights.

At the time it was $17 and I really didn’t think it could go this high so I somewhat regret having to pay the winning bid which ended up being:…

Honestly I want to cancel the transaction because it doesn’t say CREE anywhere and I’ll most likely have to open a paypal dispute afterwards. I’m afraid $31.56 for a host is a bit too much, considering the 26650/charger are crap and it comes with a fake XHP70, although it would be interesting to see it in action.

What do you guys think I should do? BTW I just contacted the seller and straight asked him if it was real CREE or fake XHP70, not paying until I get a response.

I know the feeling a host C8 cost me $20 Australian dollars.

No one yet knows what emitter it has so its hard to say what to do. It could be a real XHP70 and the seller is just trying to get his rating higher.

Has anyone noticed that this seller’s feedback has been built up on low cost items, most under $10?
Also the sign up date is almost exactly one year ago, this is what they do when they plan the long con. Sometimes they just sell their account to the scammer.
All I do know is I have wasted my time and energy by getting sucked into this racket too many times and will not do it anymore.
Time will tell and it would be great if some of you do indeed get your goods.
Good luck to all.

As no one has answered the question do I take it that no one has seen a fake/clone XHP 70 emitter before nor know if they are about ?
I am not expecting this light to have a real Cree XHP 70 but I cannot remember reading that anyone has seen one yet.
Lattice Bright list XHP 50”s on their site but not XHP 70”s so I am just wondering if this might be a new fake emitter from them ?
At $19 dollars though it should make a good host & I can put a real emitter in (assuming the one it has is fake) & a different driver, maybe the L6 driver which is available.

Yes Muto that is a bit fishy
Well I ordered one directly from him £20 (€25$28)
I have two LEDs in need of a nice light, want to see this clone thing and maybe even a fake XHP70
In case nothing comes it is done with PayPal.

Looking at some of the other ebay stores selling the same light one has been on ebay for over 9 years & has sold over 68,000 items http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tactical-S70-5000LM-XHP70-LED-Flashlight-Hunting-Torch-6-Modes-Light-18650-26650-/172271013487?hash=item281c270e6f:g:UxQAAOSwZ1BXfhEv
At the end of the day if seller 3-90802 is a scammer & the lights do not turn up then paypal will refund us.

After inspecting the pictures more closely this S70 clone is definitely NOT the same as the Thorfire S70. The threads in this copy are fully triangular and looks weak… I just kindly asked the seller if you could cancel the transaction… if not, well I’ll have to pay and gamble it.

I can vouch for brotherhuang1983, he is a stand up seller and had the best Skyray clones for a long time back when that light was relatively new.
Some of his were also the 4 led variant and they were nice lights with real Cree’s , I still have one and it is great.
Also note that brotherhuang1983 is charging the normal reasonable price for his S70 and not including batteries.

I am not saying his current stock of all flashlights don’t have Latticebright’s because at this point they probably do.
But he is a trusted seller.

I truly hope you get your S70, stranger things have happened and it is awesome when it does.
Later,
Keith

Really?
When I hold my S70 at a same angle the threads looks similar
I see literally 2 differences with my TF S70
1 no markings
2 threads on the TF tail end of the tube have small area where there are no threads (maybe to insert it easier IDK) where this clone has threading all the way (thus more threading on the clone here)

But I fear it is a scam what Muto says because too good to be true….
Yet if one gets delivered and looks as the pics the host should be very similar to the TF70

And exciting, who receives it first and can confirm if LB makes a XHP70 type LED nowadays

I would bet it’s a real xhp70 and the seller expected it to sell for more.

That is the only difference I am seeing also The Miller
Obviously no Thorfire logo & slightly different threading (only very slightly different) on the tube tail end & I only noticed that after you pointed it out.
The one I have bought (Vastfire) is also advertised by different sellers to the seller I bought from as even having the illuminated mode switch.
I am not saying the one I have bought will be identical to my TF S70 but even if it is not I have bought a 2 x 26650 host for $19 :+1:
