Shiningbeam Caveman or Fenix 2015 E20

Hi everybody I was thinking of one or the other I wonder if anybody had tried both and had a preference? If so why?

Thanks Rod!

Don’t have either one but we’re all happy with the Fenix lights we’ve bought so far. We =’s home family & work family. I almost bought the E20 last week when there was a scratch and dent type sale. For someone who doesn’t want to deal with Lithium batteries/chargers & the safety issues that go with them it seems like a good deal if you can pick it up for $30 or less.

Just my 2 cents.

I don’t have an E20 but I have to say that my Caveman is an awesome AA light. If you google on it you’ll see that it has great reviews.

You can still buy a Caveman,I didn’t know that. I have one and it is a solid, well built light. Whats your budget? the Caveman has a old emitter in it. There might be better choices out there for the money.

Apparently some of the ShiningBeam lights are available on Ebay. The shiningbeam.com URL has of course been down for years.

I wonder if he’s selling off old inventory.

I found them. Yes, he most likely is selling off inventory. Too bad I liked dealing with Bryan.

I liked him too. I bought 5 lights from him and I liked them all. I guess he had a hard time competing with the Chinese lights that are 50% the price but 80% as good. For example my Blaze feels and operates better than my Convoy C8 but is double the price, and on top of that can’t be taken apart as far as I know.

Warning thread drift - anyone know how to take apart a ShiningBeam Blaze so that I can change the emitter?

I made a thread asking how to get the Blaze apart a while ago and didn’t get any responses.I
would like to put a warmer xml2 in mine but can’t get it apart past removing the bezel and
battery tube.Too bad about Bryan closing his shop, I’ve bought a lot of lights from him.
The Caveman is a solid light, but there are newer 2aa lights now that easily outperform
it now.

I also made a thread on getting the Blaze head apart several years ago but I guess nobody’s done it. Too bad because I really like the light. I like the Caveman too and even though it’s an old light it’s pretty much bullet proof and something I can lend out and not worry about the person injuring themselves or figuring out how to use it.

Hmm I think the answer is to get both! We all know it lets be brave about this!
