Battery shipping issues again!

Ordered NCRs a couple of weeks ago from GB. Order shipped out and has tracked leaving China. I hope it gets here. :frowning:

Yes, I’ve been through the local vape shops; those around here have a handful of low end no-name 18650s (and the odd unbranded 26650) but no 14500s. I’m in good shape for everything but 14500s.

Maybe if you contact a rep here on BLF and let them put the cells you want in the cheapest lights that holds them (+ piece of tape for protection) and label it flashlight is could be done?

From my several gearbest cell orders over the past year it appears they never correctly list the contents as lithium cells/batteries. A couple of times they called them chargers. That’s how they circumvent the regulations that folks like fasttech honor. That does bother me a little.

I was told by banggod yesterday that a battery order made July 12 could not be delivered.

The ones still shipping are misrepresenting the cells or shipping them installed in their respective devices which so far is still allowed. My last cells from China were from a year ago and were routed through Sweeden. There’s a huge push from pilots and aircrews to keep them off their planes, and given what we’ve recently seen with hoverboards the public has joined in so things won’t be getting better until the Chinese mega-stores arrange for non-air shipping. Which will probably mean at least a month wait for delivery to the US and western EU customers.

I’m ordering a batch of 30Q’s tomorrow if I can find someone who will not just cancel my order- wish me luck!

Phil

Been searching for 16340 for my OTR M3 but no luck :frowning:
Stuck with only one battery…impossible to find one in my country.

As of 2012 new laws went into effect around the world and U.S postal service was first to stop shipping lithium batteries. To day you need to check what your countries laws are for shipping or receiving lithium batteries.

Canada’s laws are fairly strict. These items can only be shipped as hazardous goods first off. Secondly no fake lithium batteries are permitted to be shipped. The batteries must pass U.N regulations having documented proof of testing and proof that the batteries are indeed authentic.

They also must meet strict packing requirements or vendor will be held responsible. This explains why a lot of vendors no longer ship as they can not prove that the batteries are authentic, go figure!

Those that do ship are either breaking the laws falsifying the contents while putting people at risk or are actually shipping via dangerous goods and meeting the U.N regulations. The latter is why you see the increase in batteries on many sites and the added cost to ship as dangerous goods.

As mentioned the biggest complaint were the number of fires from fake batteries and the fact that if a battery fire was to break out the fire system on planes is not adequate to put out such intense fires that lithium batteries are known for.

As of this date Fast tech cannot ship batteries into Canada after talking with them this evening. They cannot guarantee that the battery is authentic and do not want the added cost of shipping by dangerous goods.

I would suggest you look up your countries shipping policy for lithium batteries you may be surprised to find out just how many flights are actually shipping batteries illegally!

Amazon was just heavily fined for this exact practice. Something to think about on your next flight if what we see in false disclosure on packages from oversees is as abundant as we all see here?

Does mtnelectronics ship to Canada reasonably? Saw some nice 14500’s there the other day. High A, I think, only $2.99.

Was looking yesterday&today, seemed cheaper from US sites like LiIon and imrbatteries.com. Not sure how much they charge to Canada, though.

Ebay seems to have legitimate sellers and good prices, if you’re careful. Especially if someone is shipping from Canada, might be good. Read auction, Ask questions and look at feedback, imo

Looked at how to spot efest fakes earlier, both web site and video. Be careful on ebay, or probably other places, too.

Liionwholesale doesn’t ship internationally, but Imrbatteries offers Fedex ground to Canada. No idea what they charge.

Same to Indonesia. FT, BG, GB. Dunno about other sellers.
Luckily still can find few batteries locally although mostly is unprotected 18650 cell and various efest batteries. When they run out, not sure how they will obtain their stock.

imr batteries Prices are great! The shipping cost to Canada is not however! Check out Kaidomain they ship free to Canada.

Cargo aircraft like DHL & Fedex still carry bulk cases of cells. Just not on passenger aircraft anymore.

Most places mislabel their goods, even legit places like gearbest. It always says flashlight hardware or electronics charger and value always under $20 plenty of aliexpress sellers put on their page they will mislabel it for customs clearance. If batteries are so easy to get by mislabeling imagine what really pours through american borders

Dhl, fedex and large carriers ship small or large orders under dangerous goods shipping procedures as long as the product passes testing and proof that the batteries are genuine and not counterfeit!

Get someone to hollow out a book, stuff it full of 18650’s, and mail it to you.

I’m shocked, shocked, that companies that ignore shipping regulations will ship anything out to you while those who abide by them won’t. SHOCKED I TELL YOU.

For the record, it’s easy to get batteries if you’re willing to pay for the shipping to get them. There’s no need to worry about vendors not being able to get stock.

Stock is not the issue it is the inflated shipping costs like $36.00 $50.00 $54.00 that one of the listed companies charges to ship a single battery to Canada from U.S. Higher to other countries. No one is prepared to pay shipping costs like this much less $15.00 for a $7.00-$10.00 battery.
