They look nice and all. However I am more than pleased with my cheap ($25 in 2011) Timex Indiglo. I just replaced the battery a few months ago, for the first time.

I still have a Seiko (in a drawer) I used to wear all the time. For some reason I kept cracking crystals. Haven’t had that happen with my cheapy.

But those examples look very nice. I won’t buy one though. However, I will likely put the dollars into f’lights. :money_mouth_face:

+1 on JamesB post. I would pay for one of those . I swear by my Orient watches. I just don’t see how big names can charge whatever for a watch. I was looking at a TAG but really?- it’s stainless with a rubber band for almost 3K. That’s bs but people buy them just for the name I guess.
If I ever did spend big money on a watch it would be the Omega Speedmaster. Like the one that NASA chose to go to the moon.
Edit: I’ll take one of that first pic with the tritium. Looks nice. Auto wind please.

I love that seiko design and would it better for it to be at 47mm instead of 44mm?

It is possible, but brushed/polished SS might appeal to more people. Nevertheless, that black Seiko looks mighty nice!

47mm? That is a bit large and people would drop out in droves, I’m afraid.

I have two Orients…a Pepsi Mako and a vintage SK…and you are correct, they are fantastic watches.

At this point there are two choices…both of them quartz.

I like the Pepsi and the yellow one, but I’m not keen on those ribbon bands. And unlike Sir The Miller (anyone with a seal ring obviously has a ‘Sir’ title) I want as much tritium on those suckers as possible. If you can trit those bad boys out I’m in for 2.

The seiko homage would be able to accommodate 3rd party modding parts right? Like bezel and case back changes?

I see why 47mm would be too large. But shouldn’t a ‘diving’ watch be large?

42mm is actually a great size, and 44mm is okay too. 47mm is too large. My opinion, of course.
I completely agree about Orients guys. They are worth way more than what they cost, which is not common. I love all of mine.

I voted custom but that is a lot harder to achieve. I also don’t know what end result will be. And I prefer trits since I have a few watches with great lume already.

Quartz is fine. I used to be all auto but have relearned to appreciate the easy no-fuss quartz.

+1, whatever the watch (provided no more than 44/45mm), if they are full of tritium i’m in.

Looks like HYDRO gets you 40% off.

I like:

- The pepsi colors combination.

- Brushed SS

- Tritiums in needle, top of the crown and hour marks

- Back cover unscrewed

  • Etc…

Still I don’t know if I will be in… :person_facepalming:

Seiko Homage

For me - has to have tritium. T100 preferred. Personally be willing to give up SS bracelet for T100.

44mm is good.

My wife gave me the Carnival for my birthday a few months ago — white face, silver case, green trits. Great watch — just wore it last night. All the trits aren’t necessary, but they look sharp. It was $80 at AliExpress.

Five years ago she gave me a Rolex Submariner (Kermit version) after catching me admiring it in our jeweler’s case. Another great watch with a classic look. Both of these Kronos options are winners.

Those “ribbon bands”…lol…are known as NATO straps. They are very popular, very comfortable, very rugged, and much more secure than standard Stainless bracelets or leather bands.

Anyhow, NATOS are going to be an optional adder at this point, so not necessary for you to get the “ribbon bands”. :stuck_out_tongue:

And yes, I would like to have as many T100 trits as possible without breaking the budget. Thanks for stepping up for two!

That is a complete unknown at this point. Most mod parts are for watches that are already in existence, like the Seiko SKX and it’s predecessors. Case sizes on those are 42mm…so probably not compatible. The homage will be a larger watch, hence larger dials, bezels, chapter rings, etc….so mod parts might not be readily available. There are some people modding Invictas, Vostoks and other brands…so those parts may fit…but no guarantees…of course.

It is kind of relative, but generally speaking, 44mm is considered on the large side, especially with those with wrists at 7” or below. And besides, there is big…and there is Invicta big

Would the superluminova be all green or blue or mixed of green and blue or mixed of green, blue and orange? I would love tof mix it all with orange!

Would the homage case be polished or brushed or both?
