HowTo: Adding pictures to posts

1024 x 715 is kinda big for mobile devices.

Just sayin :slight_smile:

Nice pic by the way!

Yep EXACTLY!!! :+1: http://postimage.org/

Thanks. Looks pretty quick and lightweight. Too bad you can’t nest folders… would go a long way to help organize things (like this: LED-flashlights—>Astrolux, LED-flashlights—>Jetbeam, LED-flashlights—>Nitecore, etc.)

Please try to remember to set the Relative Width to 100% or less. Thanks.

Could someone please instruct me on how to make a mouseover? The instructions in the OP (roughly 3 1/2 year old) apparently no longer apply? Advanced Post Editor toolbar is completely different looking now, I tried Insert/Edit Image - Advanced tab, but nothing there like in the OP’s tutorial

You can no longer do a mouse over here, after the modifications on the newer version of the forum.

Mouseovers are still technically possible, but are extremely user-unfriendly.

I have a couple in my signature, but they were not fun to create.

EDIT: Here are the instructions to create a mouseover from Mr. Admin himself:

Thanks rc, I tried* but can’t get it to work because I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing :slight_smile:

*to try I copied and paste the line of code from SB’s post, then I subbed in the image locations in where it says “URL IMG-1” and “URL IMG-2” but in the preview I only get image 1 and no mouseover.

I even tried to replicate SB’s example from in his post, (I used quote to get the code) but same thing, only the first photo and no mouseover.

Great post. It will be very useful to new newcomers.

Try this:

If that worked on your browser, just quote this message, select everything between and including the angle brackets, paste it somewhere like Notepad and replace the URLs with your own (be sure to get the whole URL but just the URL, leave the punctuation alone) and Preview the post as many times as you need to test it. You can always quote this message again to start over.

This gives you mouseover and onclick actions so you can add depth. Everything but the onclick should be some compatible image. You won’t win any friends putting an HTML link in a mouseover. But the onclick is what that’s for anyway. Remember to specify your Width, no more than 100%, please.

Thanks Dimbo!! That worked great, and so easy! Here’s mine:

I also found this code for inserting a GIF:

(click quote to view or copy code, just swap in your own image address)

hmm…never fought,i will get problem with this:)) how can i post pic from my computer here please?:laughing:

please add the following css rule for images as they break zooming on mobiles and also looks bad on desktop if the width is below a certain value. thanks

.forum-post-content img {
max-width: 100%;
}

I can't seem to post pix.

Having been in this situation just last weekend, I’m hoping I can help you TKCUSN. What picture hosting website are you using?

Thank you for your help, but someone else beat ya to it. I have it now. I use Photobucket. You guys are all so nice.

I am in the same boat, using photobucket but can not post. i am guessing that directions for the new forum software are in here somewhere. can anyone help me? the pics are fairly high definition.

In the tool bar above the comment input box is a sunset icon. Click that and copy the direct link from photobucket. Please set relative width to 100% or less to keep the image within the thread boundary. Otherwise, every other post is shrunk to accommodate any that are outsized, really annoying.

many thanks to Rufusbduck for the advice, the trick was to click on the photobucket image and then select the url, pretty simple. aren’t they always.
