Review - GB UltraFire 950LM CREE U2 tactical flashlight

The flashlight look tactical. Slightly smaller than the size of the convoy C8.
Battery uses a piece of 18650.
It’s got beautiful (zombie) green tail switch is GITD.
The body is connected to the pill screwed. Protected against rolling.
Pill is equipped with original CREE XM-L U2 LED. Better cooling than P60 dropin.
The bezel pushes down the OP aluminum reflector.
Everywhere there are rubber seals, protected against water.
The lamp heats up during use, so probably a good heat conductivity.

Light slightly bluish, no distractions like latticebright cheap fakes.
Unfortunately, there is no mode memory. Always start the next mode.

Low: 0,47A

Weight without battery: 127g

Use uncoated glass plate on the head.

Conclusion:
I liked this model during use. It is not as much power as Convoy C8, yet surprisingly high brightness. Hotspot no contrast due to the OP reflector. There is scattered light, but the hotspots good throws. Cheaply is a good thrower torch!

The led is a XM-L2 (second generation) or a clone, the photo is too small to distinguish whether it is a clone

Looks like a pretty good deal for $12. Beefy pill and good anodization.

As for the next mode memory, I would try the lead pencil line across the capacitors trick.

Just take a sharpened pencil and connect the silver ends directly on top of the light brown rectangular components on the driver.

Nice review. I was surprised at the quality for such an inexpensive light. At least compared to some other options in the same price range.

If the red line soldering method will be the last memory?
Sounds hard to believe, why did not you at the factory?
Are you sure you do not die in the driver? For only A17DD at home, it would be a bit strong :smiling_imp:

You’ve experienced, it’s not a bad flashlight :wink:

The red line can be made with just #2 pencil lead. I’ve done it on around 10 of my budget lights. It has worked on all of them. Some people reported that it didn’t work for them, but I’ve never heard of it breaking anything.

If it works it should reset to high or low, X seconds after turning it off.

So simple pencil drawing together?

Both top scribbled graphite pencil. Results: always starts with the high mode.
Even this is way better than the next mode start.

I just noticed the driver spring in particular looks pretty tall and rather thin. If you can solder you may see some improvement in output if you were to bypass the springs.

The driver is not determined by the maximum power consumption?
C8 8x7135 driver bridged everything they can only 2,8A maximum current drawn is not it?
Factory picks up the maximum. If bridging will be higher?
