BLF Community Battery Pulls Overview Thread (Laptop packs and Tool Packs)

Some of my battery pulls.
Don’t know from which laptop packs anymore…

On all of them I have used dremmel to clean remains from poles and all double heatshrinked because some had minor damage on heatshrink and I wanted to be safe.
Wrote numbers and capacity (tested by Lii-500) before heatshrinking.

Got this from a friend :)

A lot of testing to do :)

EDIT:

Here are specifications:

Wow, you have nice friends.

Hey xxxman

When you tear a pack apart write down the manufacture the model 3 and what cells came out of which pack . that was / is still the reason for this thread . the info will possibly be helpful to another member .

Great pic with lots of pretty colors

i see sonys sanyos lg’s ….purplr panasonic 16650’s /17650’s probably from a sony laptop pack( thought it kind of odd to find pannasonic cells in an oem sony laptop pack )

i have a ton of packs that dont work in laptops.
good ones are saved to fix up laptops we get in and refurb.
but these “bad” packs are going to get torn down once we get this big board build done.
btw most packs are built by companies who specialize in such.
i had an oem sony pack that was new but the latches were broke.was built by simplo.had panasonic 3100’s in it.12 of them!
i wish i had the idea to log the info here.talk about a winner!

Will edit post with specifications later, I just have to take piece of paper where I wrote it from my garage. :+1:
When uploaded pictures I realised I forgot to take it with me and it was too late to go get it :person_facepalming:

Very nice thread. Didn’t know it existed.
My last batch was not as worthwhile as past finds. Had 6 die on the charger and several red ones (no markings) generate too much heat to feel safe using, charging @ 0.5A. Have yet to check capacity of the survivors of this batch.

Previous batches were pretty successful with most rate over 2000mAh and 10+ up to 2700mAh.

Will certainly take notes from now on to see if there is info I can offer.

Have used and upgraded several items around the house.
Shark 20V hand vacuum
Portable O2Cool fan
Harborfreight 3W spotlight to 6 cell.
Just install a 5.5X2.1mm connector and use my balance charger on them.

3100’s as in 3,100 mAh You sure about that?

Twelve of them would be 137Wh, which would be well over the 100Wh limit placed by various safety regs.

Edited previous post (one with pictures) with information about cells.

Any info on cells with this markings?

Look similar to some Sanyo I have but no info…

Got 5 more dead HP packs from a friend so more pictures soon

New here but I pulled 6x Samsung ICR18650-26D 2600maH out of a Dell PT434 and it read 11.1v 56Wh manufactured Feb 2009

Is anyone else getting charged from their local bulk e-waste centers for these old laptop batteries by the pound? They told me they could sell it to me for $1.20 per pound because that’s what they sell it to scrappers for or so they say. This is the only e-waste center for at least 30 miles and majority of the corporations send their packs to them so they do have many newer ones. That breaks down to less than $1 per 6-cell pack. Is it worth it?

hp td09

lilac.
btw a battery shop near me gives me tool and laptop packs.
they do not have a buyer for them in less than container loads.
and everyone there uses 18650 now.i make sure they have a lifetime supply and a good charger.
they even make sure that any battery device they buy can use 18650 natively or i can mod it to.
talk about spreading the disease!

thats what i thought.but it had 12 panasonic ncr18650a in it.

i wound up with 300 6 cell aftermarket packs condaining dlg d18650.
they were all at 3.6x v and testing them at 1a all i tested were over 2200mah.
2 years later ones i have built into items are still fine.
these were new packs that had sat a while then brought for recycling by a business associate.
sold a lot to the flea market flashlight dealers at several large markets here.nothing but good reports.

masione outlet on ebay.
dell e64xx 6 cell “5200” mah
this was a dud pack.seller sent replacement and didnt want it back.
so teardown time!
lo and behold 6 +fp 18650 1800mah green cells.
testing them now but it appears 5200mah is a big fat lie!
edit.these cells are averaging 1811.
cells truthfully marked but pack capacity grossly overstated!

Hi guys can someone help me how to disassemble my defective xiaomi 16000mah powerbank to pull those 18650s inside and determine which one is still usefull. Can anyone share links for pics or videos. Thank you very much!

Hey guys.

I pulled apart a HP HSTNN-LB89. Label was removed prior to me getting hold of it….

Contained 8x18650 cell - marked as ZD ICR18650 SY.
Nothing more……any idea of who makes these ? Only thing i can find online is ZD refering to Zhongdao…….

Any thoughts welcome - they are wrapped in a dark blue.
