FandyFire HD2010, looks like will be 26650 compatible

Good luck night Breaker, I cross my fingers what you'll receive will fit 26650's.

This is not the best date for quick shipments, but lets see if you can get it in two-three weeks.

How to you expect to make contact since the KK are flat tops.

Anyway he can use something to ensure there is a contact and the charger will work.

I'm going to order this charger: http://www.intl-outdoor.com/ml102-usb-charger-for-18650-26650-battery-p-243.html when I order two King Kong 26650 batteries.

Just solder a blob of solder on top of the KKs. But do it quick, don't overheat the cells.

But do not use magnets to be that temporary blob. It's dangerous and may cause a short if you drop the light. (even if the inner tube is anodized)

I want to know what size head it has ! Looks pretty nice!

The head is 63mm not the reflector.

I saw this yesterday on DX, looks interesting. Looks like a good light to bridge the gap between my Ultrafire KF-T60 and Fandyfire STL-V6. Think I might order one.

if you look at the second last pic you can see the head has a spring contact so shouldn't be a problem for flat tops

I was talking about the TR charger all along, since it was the question if it can charge the 26650 with it. I said, it can charge a 26650 cell, but it won't fit.

A slight mix-up.

Or course the is no problem using a flat top cell in that Fandy flashlight.

I found 18650 to 26650 adapters on DX. Judging by the size of the adapters side by side, it seems the Fandyfire host should accommodate 26650 cells.

I don't have the King kong, but I do have the MNKE, and I have charged them with the TR001.

As they are not protected, the lenght is not too big, so there is still a gap to cover in the charger.

I added a magnet to make contact with the positive and the charger, here you can see it on these pictures.

*I think this charger charges at 450mAh, it takes a long time to do it, so actually I am doing it with the Sysmax intellicharger which does it at around 850mAH (they fit on this one without any help).

I would recommend you to do it on another trustfire charger witht the same shape as the TR001 but at a bigger amperage.

Hi yavi,

Thanks for the info, and the original heads up.

I'm ordering King Kong batteries today, and that $7 USB charger as well. I'm glad that I can probably charge 26650 batteries in an 18650 charger with a little finagling.

Isn't charging at 450mAh good for batteries?

I look forward to getting the FF HD2010. I know it will probably be next year before I get it, which is no problem. I can wait. I'm just glad I placed my order right away. I'm going to guess that this light will be popular, until the next new thing comes out...

I bet we start to see an increase in 1x26650 flashlights getting designed and released to the market in 2012. Then later in the year I bet we'll see 2x26650 lights with 5 or more XMLs...

Joe

Here is the ultrafire version.

It looks good. Short body thrower on 26650 cells.

Night Breaker, 450mAh will be a slow charge for 26650, they could be charged at 1A without any problem.

Many chargers are made for that 450mAh due to they can charge small cells like 14500 where those ones should not be charged at high amperage.

If you do not mind waiting longer for the batteries to be charged there is no problem.

Good news, I found it on Taobao, and it states it works with 26650:

http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=12918378326&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch8.taobao.com%2Fsearch%3Fq%3D26650%26pid%3Dmm_10011550_2325296_9002527%26unid%3D0%26mode%3D63%26rt%3D1323182971660&ali_trackid=2:mm_10011550_2325296_9002527,0:1323183056_4z7_84120265

It also says the reflector diameter to be 53*40mm.

The battery side of the pill looks non-standard. It could be a nightmare to mod unless the driver is separate on a secondary step inside. Looking at the pics here I cant see that a double sided (i.e. 8*7136) driver would fit. I guess we won't know for sure until someone gets one and disassembles it.

EDIT - On a second look perhaps an 8*7135 would fit. The visual scales are very deceptive because of the large size of the head.

I followed your link to check out the back of the driver and there are no shots showing it, just the battery side of the switch. Duh! I looked again and see it now. Don’t know how I missed it. Definitely not going to take a double-sided driver like the 8*AMC unless you can forego the ring and solder the driver directly to the pill but with no brass that will be nigh impossible to do so reliably.

To my eye, from other pics, it looks like the pill is a standard C8 jobber. Looking forward to finding out. I'd love to see the C8 pill be the new standard like P60 pills are now.

I have now edited the link I posted to a better one showing the pill in greater detail.

In this picture from the taobao link you can see better the driver area:
