I saw this yesterday on DX, looks interesting. Looks like a good light to bridge the gap between my Ultrafire KF-T60 and Fandyfire STL-V6. Think I might order one.
I was talking about the TR charger all along, since it was the question if it can charge the 26650 with it. I said, it can charge a 26650 cell, but it won't fit.
A slight mix-up.
Or course the is no problem using a flat top cell in that Fandy flashlight.
I don't have the King kong, but I do have the MNKE, and I have charged them with the TR001.
As they are not protected, the lenght is not too big, so there is still a gap to cover in the charger.
I added a magnet to make contact with the positive and the charger, here you can see it on these pictures.
*I think this charger charges at 450mAh, it takes a long time to do it, so actually I am doing it with the Sysmax intellicharger which does it at around 850mAH (they fit on this one without any help).
I would recommend you to do it on another trustfire charger witht the same shape as the TR001 but at a bigger amperage.
I'm ordering King Kong batteries today, and that $7 USB charger as well. I'm glad that I can probably charge 26650 batteries in an 18650 charger with a little finagling.
Isn't charging at 450mAh good for batteries?
I look forward to getting the FF HD2010. I know it will probably be next year before I get it, which is no problem. I can wait. I'm just glad I placed my order right away. I'm going to guess that this light will be popular, until the next new thing comes out...
I bet we start to see an increase in 1x26650 flashlights getting designed and released to the market in 2012. Then later in the year I bet we'll see 2x26650 lights with 5 or more XMLs...
The battery side of the pill looks non-standard. It could be a nightmare to mod unless the driver is separate on a secondary step inside. Looking at the pics here I cant see that a double sided (i.e. 8*7136) driver would fit. I guess we won't know for sure until someone gets one and disassembles it.
EDIT - On a second look perhaps an 8*7135 would fit. The visual scales are very deceptive because of the large size of the head.
I followed your link to check out the back of the driver and there are no shots showing it, just the battery side of the switch. Duh! I looked again and see it now. Don’t know how I missed it. Definitely not going to take a double-sided driver like the 8*AMC unless you can forego the ring and solder the driver directly to the pill but with no brass that will be nigh impossible to do so reliably.
To my eye, from other pics, it looks like the pill is a standard C8 jobber. Looking forward to finding out. I'd love to see the C8 pill be the new standard like P60 pills are now.
I am not quite sure about the reflector diameter, if the head diameter is 63mm I doubt the reflector is 53 unless the walls of it are too thick, but lets see when Night breaker gets it, or now knowing 26650 will work, it is a good buy in my opinion in case you are decided to get it dthrckt.
With an aspheric you should get a nice throw, a flood to throw with 26650 and a big diameter lens is something I've been dreaming with for a long time, lets hope it will be released some day, there is an EDI-T with that characteristics, the problem is that it has not been manufactured yet ( I even contacted them).
-Now if Xtar would just make a 5000mAh 26700 and the matching XTAR WP2 "III" ...we would all be VERY happy...
-are you listening out there XTAR and szwholesale...?
-while I am at it -how perfect would it be to have the option for a second battery tube on here... imagine 2 -26700's blasting 3 amps...
OK -I'm just dreaming... but it would still be nice
I don't have one on order yet and have exceeded my monthly "allowance" (even spent next month’s too!) Somebody get one in yet and tell me just how good this is!!! –maybe I’ll be convinced to spend by February’s allotment…
...why does the picture of the flashlight in the hand look like it is more like a 100mm bezel size rather than just 63mm
