Stainless AAA XP-E2 twistie at Convoy's store

Looking at Simon's store on aliexpress I noticed that along with the new clear-anodised C8, a second flashlight appeared.

It's a stainless steel single mode 50-60 lumen AAA xp-e2 twistie that is just 70mm long and available in three tints: 4000/5000/6000. The best thing, price:$10

Looks like an amazing product but I don't think anyone else noticed it appeared?

Link (sorry if I post it wrong)

Just for a moment... Okay I may stay a little longer

Looks like clone to Dito Feng Bird with slots changed to round led lenser style “dimples”. Personally I dislike led lenser design and prefer original Dito Feng much more (and price Wink )

/BTW: Slots on the head should aid mode changing much more than round dimples.

FT is reputed for poor stock management and i would not be surprised it turns out ‘restocking’ once ordered…

How come Simon is cloning now?
Where does this new Convoy AAA comes from?

How do you mean “now” ? As far as I know most (if not all) Convoy designs are some better than average generic host picked by Simon and manufactured to his standard with Convoy logo and standard AMC drivers. No original designs as far as I understand. Correct me if I’m wrong.

It started out that way from what I hear but there are lots of original designs now such as the L2 and L6 and far as I know the whole BD lineup.

You may well be right… I guess i haven’t been addicted to fl long enough to tell wether other Convoy lights have borrowed some existing design. In that particular case the two lights have exactly the same body, material and finish except for the dots/grooves. Honestly i don’t care. Just surprised.

I think this is just a product that Simon is selling, not something he is making himself. I see no reference to the convoy brand on the listing or the light?

Maybe Simon worked with them but BD lineup is stright up Dipper with proper logo Smile :
Dipper BD01
Dipper BD02
Dipper BD03
I believe those flashlights have many other names on chinese market – someone here gave some examples.
First version Convoy L2 was Dipper D19, current one probably as well. Didn’t researched L6 and know of no clones – but you see a pattern.
Having said that I still prefer Convoy anytime. Proven quality, reliable and even good looking western-centric logo(no chinese squiggles or chinglish) Smile

I received two of them NW a few days ago.

Very nice SS AAA light. I like the brushed metal, its weight and overall design.

The nice thing is the twist head can be locked off by turning it a bit more then half a turn so it wont wiggle or come apart when off. You cannot remove the head actually. It’s a bit hard to turn it on one handed once locked though.

I wish it had two or three modes rather then just on/off like the BLF 348… BUT that makes it a nice gift for people who have trouble with modes – most people i know in fact…

I also wish the packaging would be nicer then the minimalist plain white self destructing cardboard box… My two lights where loose in the envelope when i received them – they had come out of their ‘package’. They where not protected by a bubble wrap sleeve either – just a tiny bit of bubble wrap tucked along, not enough to go around. I was lucky they where not damaged.

I’ll probably get a few more… and add a comment about packaging at order time. Big Smile

There’s promo at BG for these right now for $9.99 and if you have enough BG points and VIP account it can be as low as $7.99. See deal alert thread for details.

It is.

Speaking of light output, this light is not a top performer either but it is very decent.

The beam is rather focused compared to other AAA i have and does throw further. However it is very ‘ringy’ and ‘rainbowy’ – if that makes sense. I’ll try to post some beam shots.

It’s not perfect… but it is sooo cute! I’m glad to add it to my AAA lineup.

I noticed this light couple of days ago at banggood named convoy tiny.
This is a nice light and I like the SS finishing but wish it could have more output as other lights in its class have 90 lumens or more.

Is the tint bearable? I might go cooler or warmer if its really sickly looking

The brushed stainless looks much better than the polished, imo….

why not? If I bring only one light, I prefer a brighter one.
its gonna be like i3E IOS, or better if it has low-high modes.
