I bought these OEM Energizer Ultimate Lithium's from eBay, just now I was going to discharge 2 and check the capacity out of curiosity.
Then I noticed 2 of them are damaged, one has 3 dents around the base and the other has nearly like a puncture (doesn't go through though) mark on the bottom.
Would they be safe to discharge or should they be thrown out?
Also Ill send these pictures to the seller, maybe Ill get a refund for the price of 2.
I may be accused of being alarmist, but I am really just overly cautious. Put those things far away from anything that might burn. Outside on pavement would be a good choice. I don't suggest keeping those damaged cells anywhere inside of your home. Li-Ion is really pretty safe as long as it's treated with respect, and those cells have not been treated with respect. They're dangerous.
Do not use those. They can explode and burn. They contain pure elemental lithium. If that comes in contact with air(water in air) it reacts with that producing hydrogen and heat. Depending on the conditions it can cause a sizeable explosion. I have taken them apart and in controlled conditions let them react and it caused a small fire.
