In skimming the news, I saw were some soldiers stole and sold some weapons. But, what really caught my attention was when they mention that $800 flashlights were in the booty too. These must have been some badazz flashlights to get mentioned with all that weapontry.
My nephew is a Navy Seabee stationed in Guam and they got issued Surefire A2 LED Aviators. But if they lose or break it then they have to pay for a replacement out of their pockets. Ouch!
That's 4 or 5 lights at current prices. About 1.5 yrs. ago he sent me one as a birthday gift when he found out I was into flashlights. I told him thet he just became my favorite nephew. :D
I don't understand why someone issued a Surefire light would have to pay to replace a broken one? That's the point of their warranty, and with the military bulk buying from them you'd assume they would send back shipments of broken/damaged lights for repair on a relatively regular basis.
@cehoward: Dont you do that again. I thought someone stole your flashlights! Tho I wondered why someone should steal your lights and not your bikes.. ^^
Funny article btw... 2 million total, 800$ flashlights. I wouldnt even have mentioned them.
Maybe they do have some kind of agreement with surefire but that's what my nephew told me. It's probably the Navy's way of trying to save money and cut costs. He's coming here on vacation in June so it will be interesting what he brings us as gifts. I always tell him not to bother but he never listens. I raised him so maybe that's why he buys me nice gifts. Last year he got me a 42" sony lcd tv and blueray player. I guess you could say that I raised him well.
You got me there!! :D I am at work now, and just mounted my two Keygos Ke-5s on my 89 Centurion Ironman Master. And believe you me, I'd be one hot cookie if anybody stole any of that. That goes for the lights and/or the bike. BTW, everything stays close to me. I am in my cube typing this and my bike is about 3 feet away.. Life is dam sweet!!
On the $800 lights, I was just curious because of the high price. I dunno!!
On the graph. If you remember the good days under Clinton when the economy was booming we had no debt increase. Love him or not, he knew economics better than any president we have ever had. Sadly, I don’t think Obama has the economic chops to match what Clinton did. Even more sadly, we will be at war over oil until it runs out or we find another fuel.
