OK everyone. I am putting some flashlights up for bidding. Instead of just asking for a set price, I am going to allow folks on BLF to bid for various flashlights....the highest bidder gets the light. Why am I doing this? Well I will be moving away from home for the first time and I am trying to get extra money together for things needed such as pot/pans, vacuum cleaner, etc.
Now you may be asking questions like "didn't you just get these lights as a gift"? Yes I did. The person who sent them to me has told me several times via email that the lights are for me to use, sell, trade, etc. The nameless person who sent them knew I was moving so if there was something I did not need, use, or want....that is was fine with them if I sell what I do not want.
Here are the rules. Folks bid on each light for a few days or so. It is 9pm EST right now, so at 9PM EST Sunday night 5/20/12 I will call the winning bids for each light. This is open to everyone....local and international. Here is what is up for bid:
Knight Rider P-Rocket ($43.75 new cool white XML T6)
Like I said, I want to raise money for things I will need when moving. I thought this would be more fun than just trying to sell things outright. Let the fun begin.
By the way, some of you may be wondering why I did not post this stuff on Ebay.....well it is for this reason.....the folks here have been very helpful to me, supportive, made me feel like family even thought I am visually impaired and not a real flashoholic. You helped me support the VisionWalk and gave your hard eraned money to a cause that is dear to me. You trusted me with your money via PayPal.......and sent ME the money and trusted me with that money to send it to VisionWalk. I want to give my family here a chance at the lights first. That is why I did not go the Ebay route.
Plug the leads on your DMM into the 10A and the COM spots. Turn the DMM to the highest amp measurement it has. Put a cell in the light, hold one lead on the non-anodized portion and the other on the end of the cell. That will complete the circuit, the light will come on, and the DMM will give you a reading in amps. If you lift one lead and put it down again, the light should switch modes just as if you'd pressed the tailcap.
There's a really great tutorial here on how to take various measurements on lights:
