Frankly, I don't know why I ordered these. Even though they are out-dated, they seemed interesting and appeared to be VERY well built. The are from 4SEVENS and they're called "Chanllenger-I L500R LED Tactical Searchlight" by MicroFire Technology Company, LTD. The only price listed at Google is $479!
I've never receieved a flashlight so carefully packed and, on first glance, the construction is impeccable and they are very bright. They each have seven (7) XP-G emitters and the beam, although a little white for my taste is actually really nice. They are heavy though (but not too long). They also originally came in two styles. This one is a rechargeable light with a permanent lithium battery pack rated at 2100mAh. A separate box (each comes in two nice boxes with cut foam etc.) comes with a 115volt charger/cradle and an auto charger. They were also supposed to come with 2 filters and a protection sheath but mine didn't come with those. By the way, the other version takes/took 8 CR123A batteries
Even those thes are older technology and a little heavy (and they batteries may not be replaceable), I've decided I like them quite a bit - good addition to the collection (and I'll probably end up using them a little). By the way, the only reason I ended up with them is that I placed what I thought was a low-ball bid on eBay and I won 2 out of 4 being offered. Regards, -Bob- (KumaBear)
I think I'm confused about the XR-E thing. The Data Sheet says "7 Cree Q5 LED bulbs" - but whatever they are, the thing is really quite bright. Also, I think it's a great conversation piece - being so different from the other lights we're always talking about. (According to the seller, these are the last of them.)
About the price - I paid about $40 plus $10 shipping. I tried to get combined shipping but the seller stood firm.
Q5 doesn't necessarily mean XR-E, it's just the flux bin. But it is in this case (and is in most others too), XR-Es are much better for throw anyway as they have a smaller emission angle/surface brightness than XP-G.
I can't believe you both got them for around $50 shipped.. I would have put a bid in but they wouldn't ship to the UK.
