Help. Does anyone else use 14500's in their quark regular?

Hello. I recently received a quark regular to use with 14500s and AAs in emergency's. I have always been happy with my quarks including another quark regular that walked away. But this one takes over 10 seconds for the memory to reset. It sometimes seems like 20 seconds. On the 4sevens website it says "Once the Quark has been turned off for at least three seconds, it will revert to the first level of output in the sequence, either Moonlight or Max." It also says it is rated for 4.2v So 14500's should not be a problem.

I informed 4sevens of my problem and they had me send it in on my dime. About maybe a week after receiving it they sent me an email that said "The operation you see when using the 14500 is normal and will not affect performance or reliability." Along with a number to call them. Which I will be calling after I get some input from you guys.

I believe this does affect the performance of the light greatly. When using it in short bursts. The light will be on max, I turn it of and then on within 10 seconds or more to be surprised by strobe. It's even worse for the second mode set. Expecting moonlight and getting sos. I hope at least a few of you use a quark regular so you can tell me if you have the same problem. What should be my next step?

wondering how many ACTIVE bfl members have a Quark AA REGULAR. good luck!

( i use the tactical quark with 14500 to great effect, no probs whatsoever )

I guess not many.

No issues with mine.

Do you use 14500's? About how long does it take for the memory to reset Boro?

Does it do this when using Alkaline or Ni-MH cells? If not, then I would presume something is wrong with the light as the higher voltage input simply allows the driver circuit to operate more efficiently and provide higher maximum output. But I've never had a regular Quark to confirm this.

Try asking in the CandlePowerForums > LED Flashlights section, lots of Quark users there.

Yes, reset is longer with 14500. I didn’t notice until I tested.

I think I just popped in a 14500 from the start. Seems like my first quark regular reset pretty quick. I don't know what to do.

Ok. I called 4sevens. At first they said exactly what they told me in their email. After "negotiating" for awhile, they said they will swap the head but will not guarantee any change. I settled. Hopefully their will be some difference.

Just received my quark with a new head. No improvement, but now there's a green tint in the beam.

Is yours a XML head? just curious.

Nope. It was an R5. I'm afraid they swapped it for another one they had sitting around that someone else was dissatisfied with. I've read on cpf that the xml's and S2's had a green tint. I am very disheartened because I always thought I could rely on 4sevens products. I may buy another head to try and get tint, and maybe a quark that doesn't have this problem. I am tired of dealing with 4sevens. I think their QC might be lacking as of late.
