Need NiMH AA/AAA charger for Eneloops

Well, I bought the Eneloop pack from Costco that had 8 AA batteries, 4 AAA batteries and a charger. The problem is the charger is broken, never used once, but it doesn't work never the less. I am going on a trip to Hawaii on June 26 and would like a charger for the batteries so I can be sure my camera doesn't die. I have found the same charger on Newegg with 4 more AAs included for ~$16 and was wondering if that was my best bet or if there are better chargers for a similar price. I figured this forum would be as good or better to ask on than a camera forum as we use more batteries and use them harder so people here should have good suggestions.

Looked, those are way more than I need to be honest, I think I will just pick up the Sanyo charger with 4 Eneloop AAs from Newegg. I do have an Energizer 15 minute charger but have heard those are extremely hard on the batteries and should be avoided.

Yea, I just don't need it, don't really plan on buying any NiMH lights, prefer LiIon myself.

Not sure if its too powerful for AAA's though.

i think this is what you're looking for.  good reviews of it all over the web.

cheap, 4 independent channels, reliable smart cutoff, and cheap.  no frills, but they do the job.

i have two of them, had them over a year.  they were $5 per back then.  current price still looks pretty good.  i really like them.  they work fine with my Eneloops and Duracell white tops.

+1 on the Sony that robostud linked to. Here's my review:

For a cheap charger, it's perfect. Better than the Eneloop charger since it has 4 individual channels. I have bought 5 of them now. One to keep at work and the rest to give away to people so they don't kill their rechargeable batteries in Energizer chargers.

I didn't either, LOL.  Now it seems like it's all I buy.  Anyway I have the Jetbeam Intellicharger i4.  Can be found just about anywhere for around $25 and gives you the option of other battery types JUST IN CASE. After about 4 months of use with eneloops, 18650, and 26650 batteries I have no complaints.  Pretty easy to use and not a budget buster.

I could get by with the little Sony charger and a hobby charger. But the C9000 is nice for NiMH's.

Why not return or exchange at Costco with their awesome lifetime returns? Or it might fall under the 90-day-return for electronics rule.

SashiX, pay more, you get more quality.

case charger: BC700 is awesome, pay more, the C9000 is better -- no doubt.

case mini flashlight: E09 is awesome, pay more, the LD01 is better -- no doubt.

in both cases You Get What You Pay For -- which makes it an easy decision imho.

That's what I was going to say...Costco is very good with returns. Some of the Sanyo chargers are good, some are not so good. The one included with the multi-pack is usually a good one - model MQH03 is intelligent with 4 channels. If you find the MQH06 model, avoid it as it charges in pairs similar to the Duracell chargers, which you want to avoid.

Another good charger if you can still find one, is the Panasonic BQ-390 which is also intelligent and has 4 channels. It usually comes bundled with 4 NiMH cells. I have both and only recommend you buy a model with single channels so you can charge 1 or more cells individually.

Here's another link for the La Crosse in case you want to look at some of the other available chargers (I've used Thomas Distributing several times):

The La Crosse may be the best combination of quality and budget. Yeah, like everyone's said, the MH-C9000 is the best AA charger I'm aware of but it also costs 60% more than the La Crosse (Love my Maha, though):

Good Luck,

Daniel

Blinded? BUY the light!

Have you tried exchanging it or returning it to costco?  They take things back even after months of being used.  My sister returned a coffee maker after it broke even though she had it for almost a year.  It's worth a try.

I think it's worth it to spend a little more and get one of the quality chargers listed. I think the extra money spent is marginal when you consider the features and quality you get for many years. Being able to discharge is a big plus for NiMH. But the Sony looks like a great deal if you're not interested in these extra features (my personal Sony boycott still stands, haha).

I thought the La Crosse was known for melting or something disasterous happens.
