First light of the new year 100th BLF post

In order to celebrate my 100th post on budget light forums ... the new year .. or the fact the new phonebooks are coming out ..

i'm going to buy a light ..

i'm considering

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.50680

http://kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=10913 ok no.... i'm not allowed to buy a nitecore :{

Any suggestions ?

The Edi-T looks very cool if you don't mind RCR123As.

The Nitecore does look nice, but I bet you could buy three equally nice budget lights for the same price. But I guess you already knew what my opinion is, being the admin of the BudgetLightForum and all.

I have took some picture for NiteCore D11 and EX11 http://forum.lightake.com/Topic.aspx?BoardID=13&TopicID=264 , but it is a little expensive , you might can have a try .

at $11.80 i think it looks really good, and i am seriously considering it (which pretty much means i am buying it soon) also. the edi-t lights at dx mysteriously doubled in price recently, so i wouldn't wait too long, as this one may as well.

I know it peeved me beyond belief ..i've been a edi-t lurker /troll from before time began .. I had the 18650 version in a list of things to buy from deal extreme ..AT 12.20$ it was a yes ..at 24.40$ No way ..

I have a few 16340's gathering dust ..

Maybe we should do a group buy and get 3.. and save like 1.50$

Nitecore D11 is $55 at LT Tempting .... Maybe for my birthday ...

Wonder if I can hold of buying lights , for a month so I can buy the Nitecore ....

And here I was contemplating a 2011 new battery shoot out [ 18650 ] ... So much one wants to do ... So little money ...

Thanks lightake for the review and video's!

You can't beat the price of the EDI-T T11 plus it actually looks pretty cool. Ever since it was posted on BLF, I've had it sitting in my cart but because I already have a couple 16340 lights, I've been holding off. How long can I hold off? I just don't know.

OK to celebrate the New Year and my B.L.F. 100th post . I bought the EDI-T T11 Zoom-Baby 16340... I figured i had to ....before they drove up the price on these too . .

http://www.everbuying.com/T6-R-18650-LED-Tactical-Q3-Flashlight-p-28772.html I already own this one /not from this company

and have wanted this one for months now till the price doubled http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.44573

at least now i have the mini zoom Tongue out;)

Rub it in Boaz, rub it in. Frown

I almost bought 3..don't kid yourself ..i hate missing out on stuff .i'd rather have to sell stuff then have somebody like Dx say oh yeah we doubled our price .. sorry charlie

i'm pretty dang sure I can sell them and get my 12 bucks out of them ..not like I'm going down with the ship .

you have no idea how bent I was when I missed the Trustfire 801 deal ..I was busily trying to show it to my disinterested friends and discuss it with them when it disappeared ..imagine my disgust , only to be reminded regularly with 10 million posts a day here on BLF ..If you don't get the deal who can you blame but yourself . I pounced on poor dino direct and under my breath while everyone cursed them ..said ya snooze you lose .

I say we buy em all up .. create a big stir.. and double the price suddenly

Go fish

I know exactly what you mean Boaz. I've missed out on a bunch of deals myself. I usually try and wait a bit but when I do I almost always miss out. That's ok though because there's always going to be a better deal around the corner. I just hope I don't wait too long. Undecided

Dearest Boaz....

Curse you and the keyboard you used to type that first post. Because of that, I just now went and purchased the same Edi-T, along with some 16340's, an R2 emitter, a SB driver, and a slew of other stuff to mod/play with. Now I've got a months worth of teeth-gnashing to look foward to while I wait for DX to ship.... Gaaa!

Much Love,

Match :P

:) Love it! :)

2am here so time for sleep.

ANd let me tell you a story about a guy who was on the edge of becoming a professional DX hater ..

they shipped my last order so fast it made my head spin . i thought there is no way on earth it was DX .Blazing fast 6~8 days tops .

Some point after christmas I decided I had to have my side button fix for the month dealt with so I placed this mini order and santa and his elves who were returning from a lay over in thailand must have thrown them on the sleigh . a tank copy with not as nice of an emitter ..cool white where the tank version is much smoother /softer (hmm. how would i know that )?? ( thanks dino )Anyway we had to know if the copy was as good as the more expensive one .it isn't bad for the price ..I dunno i might be over my side button thing ..for now ..till i get a sunwayman .

oh well sorry Mr. Match .. isn't Cree in your back yard ?? So why are we shipping stuff half way around the world only to sit at the mailbox and wait for a beat up package from hong kong ?/.. just thinkin out loud

The only points of interest in my back yard are Basset Hound droppings, wayward golf balls, a childs bike, and half a squirrel.

But you bring up a good point... CREE is up in the Research Triangle in Raleigh/Durham, NC. The irony of having the parts circumnavigate the globe before finally coming to rest under a blob of solder in a $9 light is not lost on me. At least those lil' emitters got to see the world! Then again, If they'd let me I'd drive the 3 hours up there and pick em up.

You don't see many Basset Hounds around. A friend of mine who was a recruit platoon commander had one in his Army days. It was notorious for sitting in the back of vehicles with is ears swinging in the breeze while recruits ran behind the vehicle. Bet their output isn't as copious as my assistant's.

I doubt the factory is very interested in selling lots of less than a few hundred thousand LEDs. Though it would be fun to go through there and pick some fun LEDs to play with.

My great aunt lived in the Carolinas (I never met her, she died before I was 1), she'd emigrated from Glasgow in 1913. She spoke with what she fondly imagined was a Glasgow accent which was completely unintelligible to the locals. When my parents visited her in 1959, they found her almost unintelligible too. And they had come from Glasgow.

A package from DX

Pretty much what I'd expected .. has that same slippery feel that edi-t is known for . nicely built light with zero sharp edges The light measures 1"x3 1/2"inches and it extends to almost 4 inches. It feels like ..a roll of quarters .Pretty big for a cr123/16340. It's a 3 mode . high ,low ,strobe with no memory .

nice little light ..I like it .

***An 18650 fits in it ...Wow that's interesting ..Now to find the elusive fine thread extention tube .

Pros:

It's a little odd .a mini throw ...unique

A nice addition to the ellusive perfect flood to throw light

A very well chosen low setting 15~20% of max

nice warmer older style tint

tailstands /// a little cockeyed but has such a low center of gravity .it's like the leaning tower of pisa >it's not going to fall over ..it's just not straight

wide enough to take an 18650 if you build or find a tube ..

Fine threads ..nice quaility for the discounted price paid .

cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc

Cons

- not the perfect beam.. it has a ring around the outer edge of the beam (almost all of these lights have this ..most are much much worse)

-strobe ,no memory

-A little big ..for a little cr123 light ..

There really aren't any real negatives to this light ..it simply is what it is .

If your quest is for the elusive flood to throw ..Add this little light to your collection

@BOAZ

Some people say this light has a hidden ramp mode driver. Your has?

When flashlight off, full-press the switch to switch on and now rapidly, half press the switch 2 times and it enters into ramp mode

Half press again to select the desired output level.
