If the Group Buy goes through, it looks like it would be a good idea to mention the brass ring and also the grounding issue that Techjunkie pointed out.

As far as the Group Buy discount price of (hopefully) $27 plus $6 shipping vs. the old $33.80 price without a shipping fee – it’s “6 of one vs. half-dozen of the other – so it’s obvious either option would work. Regards

Techjunkie’s “mini-review” is very compelling – and I think we have 3 ready to go for it. If we get another, I’ll practice some of my buying skills on the lady in China. As small as her company is, she may even go for a Group Buy at 5 but you never know. I hope some more people see Techjunkie’s photos and description. Regards!

I’m thinking of cancelling my current order and joining this group buy. I requested an unbranded torch, but who knows how long it will take to source. Plus, I had to pay the extra $6 shipping. Give me a day to mull this one over…

If the language barrier weren’t so apparent with this vendor, I’d ask if they could get some spare drivers from the manufacturer. I would really love to try boosting the output, but don’t want to risk destroying the existing driver without a backup on hand in case I cook the first one. I had another look at it a few nights ago, and wasn’t able to identify any SMD sense resistors to lower the value of.

Dam, I saw a new post, and I thought the GB was on, but it is not!! Sad

I buy this light in a heartbeat for that $33.99 price, don’t need the charger and cheap cells..

@ Kumabear – any updates on the groupbuy? Looks like 6 confirmed (I could be 7 if I cancel my current order)

Hi Folks!

The good news is that we are up to 7 or 8 people for this possible Group Buy.
The bad news is that the seller seems to be “feeling her oats” – having sold what she must feel is the huge number of 7 of these lights. She appears to have gotten greedy and raised the starting price from just over $33, to just over $33 plus $ 6.32 shipping, and now to $38.80 plus $6.32 for shipping! She certainly seems to be getting greedy and I’m not interested at the new price. I would suggest that I hold firm at $33 and change.

She’s off-line now because it’s 2:30am in China but I’ll be contacting her tonight (our time) to see if she’ll come to her senses and agree to no more than $33.80 including shipping.

Here is the list I’m working with at the moment:
cehowarGS
cop
CarpentryHero
Richie086
scaru
Sigster
KumaBear
Hill (maybe?)

Please reply to the thread or send me a PM so that I can get a measure of how you all feel about this. (Personally, I’m not interested at her new price.) BTW, each of her sites has different prices. One has the old (lower) price and the other has the increased price. Not only has that, but the quantity deal that was there the last time I looked at the second site ($27 and change plus shipping for qty 10) seemed to have disappeared. I’m guessing that she’s following our discussions on the BLF, has gotten all excited, and assumes that she can charge whatever she wants. I’d like to set her straight when I chat with her tonight. Would that be OK with everyone?

Thanks and Best Regards,
Bob

P.S. I will feel her out about stock status – on the unit with printing and on the so-called special order units without the printing. By the way, I haven’t forgotten about the issue of the brass ring that Richie mentioned and also the grounding issue that Techjunkie pointed out.

Hi Again!

By the way, it is not cost-effective to have all the lights shipped to one location and then pay for shipping again to each of us. She did mention “drop-shipping” in her earlier listing. In addition, I do not want to be responsible for your money. The only way this will work is if each buyer pays AliExpress separately and their funds are held in “escrow” until they receive their flashlight.

Regards,
Bob

Thanks for following up KB!

Sounds like the deal maybe getting sour with the higher price. I’d be interested for the $33 price, even for the extra shipping if it means getting the group buy initiated. I would also hope a group buy to be expedited faster than a single purchase, but that’s anyone’s guess. However, I am not interested at the $38 + shipping price tag.

Count me in for 1 if this does work out. I think we can find a vendor else where that will not be so greedy .
How about some vendors we know and can trust? You guys would likely have more info on some staright shooting vendors
that have established good track record here. I only know 1 vendor via BLF..Ric at CNQ seems to be a very decent person. Can likly source this light and run the logistics of a GB

And i think sending funds to a oversees vendor we dont know and no established sales with BLF members s a mistake. I would much rather send my money to a forum member and pay a few bucks extra…

Yeah, I still want one, but at $45.12 each, she’s really out of line. If you want to put this in perspective, I purchased a Trustfire TR-J12 that should arrive this week for only $53.60 delivered.

If she’s going to do business like this, we can find someone else. But I’ll hang with what the rest of you wish to do. Thanks.

I am with you at the price, if can be lower then $33 even better..haha

Yup, TF-3t6 is bout $29/- [light itself w/o batt & charger] (with the $5 off coupon)…as in other thread.
With batts & charger + extended tube, tr 3t6 average price is $38.99 – $44.99 – $54.99.[Price diff is due to diff 18650]

Dun really see bang for buck this “SR 856” at the $45/- range.
[i reckon this light also would not be far off in lumens from trust fire 3t6?]

I did a small calculation. ($ not exact, rough estimation)
Light package is $39/- Shipping is $6/- (should be able to do away or the person purposely add in to earn more – greedy!)
Take the charger $6-8/- , Batts $3/- each (2×$3=$6) >> Total = $27/- for the light itself.

IF; its the $33/- price tag.
Minus off charger ($6-8) & Batts ($6/-) >> Light itself bout $20/-

*Jus a thought.
Maybe, can try ask for only the light? w/o batts or charger? (that is if that person is still greedy?)
But the price must be low.

I would be in for the original price of $33 or close to it, kicking myself that I didn’t grab one when I first saw this post, grrrr @ me

Hi Guys,

This woman (Janny) is rather difficult to communicate with. Having been in China, I’m aware of the cultural differences and I’m accustomed to negotiating (successfully) but she was not at all sensitive to reason – either that or she just doesn’t understand business. Either way, she is now standing firm at $38.80 plus shipping – totally ridiculous! Well, I just bought two TF TR-3T6 for about $30.

Meanwhile, I really don’t think she’s going to “come around” but I did find another supplier that has a really good mix of product (along with some really good prices) so we’ll see what he can do.

Regards,
Bob

P.S. I feel bad – like I let you guys down. Someone else could take a shot – but I really don’t think we’re going to do business with this woman. The other Chinese seller I negotiated with tonight is a different story. He’s already given us a price that Erik (E1320) could only say “WOW” about. So, hopefully these new contacts will get us “closer to the source” and end up yielding some excellent deals for desirable product. Who knows, we might even find this light being sold by someone more reasonable???

She understand:>> If i dun earn more now, when will i still have a chance, since it is in demand..hahahaha
from 33 to 45 is 12 diff..which is about rmb¥81/- per piece, if 10 pieces, she get extra rmb¥800/-..^^

Tink i go ahead with the ~$30/- tf-3t6.
Bty, your another supplier also have the nice looking 856 at resonable price?

Please dun feel bad, you did what ever you cound :).
It was that person.

Hey KumaBear, Thanks for giving it a go. I was hoping she’d listen to you since she stopped dealing with me about 8 days ago after I asked her to get me one without badging on it. We’ll keep our eyes open for a better vendor and one that really does want our forum business.

You know, I might would have gone for this light at this price, if the $38 + shipping was the original price. A lot of us are mad we didn’t see it at the beginning. I am with everybody else on passing this big price.. Not that the extra is all that much, but we are BUDGETEERS, and getting a good light at a budget price is our mission. Smile Pllus it is a super thrill too. Wink

Looks like to me for a comprimise she could sell the BARE LIGHT for the $33 free shipping, and IMO she would get takers. The chump charger + cells ain’t nothing to leave home about! Wink

Just cancelled my order.

18 days with no activity and virtually no communication is no way to do business, no matter how good the deal may be.

Just not worth it to save a few bucks…
