I have one, bought from Ebay for around 1.21$, it does smell strange and its supposed to be as dumb as it gets, charges at 180mA current which takes forever to charger batteries and wont stop automatically. I bought it just to see how it looks IRL but never really used it, only dissembled to take pictures and thats all.
Definitely not one to leave unattended and risky to plug into PC, those cheap devices might fry your computers motherboard.
