Watched Bohemian Rhapsody yesterday on TV. The film was so-so (sad ending) but loved the music.

Did you know that Adam Lambert (new frontman of Queen) appeared briefly in a scene where Mercury, played by Rami Malek, is at a truck stop on the band’s first North American tour. While making a call to his fiancée, Mary Austin (played by Lucy Boynton), Mercury notices the bearded trucker heading into the men’s room, suggesting they are about to hook up. That moment in the film is the first that implies Mercury, who died of AIDS at the age of 45, was interested in men. (thx Yahoo)

You are a flashaholic if you are forced to come out of the closet, to make room for more flashlights.

Starship Troopers. I last saw it the 90s most likely and although it went over my head to some degree at the time I liked it.
Holds up really well today, I didn’t realise how well executed a film this is. Great to see it on Bluray rather than VHS. I did also read the book by Robert Heinlein back in the 90s but it is a different although nonetheless worthy read from what I remember.

Not sure but I know he died the same year 1984 so it could of been.

It really is well done, and more timely today than ever before. When it was released, I think a lot of people didn’t understand it is a satire, and they thought it was promoting the ideology and lifestyle depicted (with the black uniforms reminiscent of uniforms worn by Nazis in World War 2, and jingoistic slogans, like “The only good bug is a dead bug”). So, it seemed that many science-fiction fans were upset that they made a satire out of Heinlein’s story, and many non-science-fiction fans were just baffled by it. On its own terms, it really is a well-done movie.

I saw 1984 (1984).

I read the book in 1991 or 1992, back when I was in high school.

The book is a classic, though not all that entertaining.

I think that the movie would be very confusing for anyone that has not read the book.

Also, the movie is not all that entertaining.

The acting is okay, but the music in the film isn't that great.

The movie is also pretty depressing.

I don't remember the book being so depressing.

If you've read the book, the movie is decent, but otherwise I'd avoid the movie.

I like road trips, movies about New Mexico, movies with/about cars, and motels. So I thought this would be a perfect movie for me. Well, it was an acceptable one. Not the best film or script out there, but it was fine enough for a boring, rainy Monday night.
IMO Rated R for various elements of violence, lewd language and exposure of blood.

Haven’t seen this one, but the original with Rutger Hauer is a classic!

Thank you for this bit of information I didn’t know about. Will look into that one.

I saw Bad Samaritan (2018).

[One of my favorite movies of all time.]

I really like this movie.

The acting is extremely good, as is the music.

The movie is about an antagonist that is a criminal mastermind.

It seems like he is always a few steps ahead of everyone else.

It's kinda frustrating for the antagonist to be so perfect, but at the end of the film, that frustration disappears.

The movie isn't very realistic because I don't think anyone can be that much of a mastermind, but the movie is quite entertaining nonetheless.

By the end of the movie, you will really hate the antagonist.

I recommend this film, if you don't mind some of the frustration that I mentioned.

“Butley” (1974) – Alan Bates reprises his leading role in the stage production in which he plays a witty, yet prickly college literature professor who, in the course of a single day, manages to alienate everyone in his life. The playwright Harold Pinter directed this excellent adaptation of the play by Simon Gray.

I saw Crimson Peak (2015).

This movie is pretty good.

The acting and music are superb.

It's a horror film, set in the 1890's.

It's directed by Guillermo del Toro.

The movie is a little slow, which is to be expected from a period piece.

The movie does have a strong ending, which is always nice.

If it were more tightly edited, I would like the movie even more.

We Broke Up (2021)

Quote:
Longtime couple Lori and Doug break up just days before Lori’s little sister Bea’s wedding to Jayson. In order to not disrupt the fun, they decide to pretend they’re still together until the weekend is over.

It is classified as a comedy, but I didn’t think it was that funny.

Stowaway (2021)

A three-person crew on a mission to Mars faces an impossible choice when an unplanned passenger jeopardizes the lives of everyone on board.

Just finished it. The movie is average, but the plot is somewhat interesting.
The space suits feature LED head lamps, no close ups, but at least they are in the movie.

Only watch if you have nothing else to do, it is a bit of a slow one.

I saw Oculus (2013).

[One of my favorite movies of all time.]

This movie is really good, and extremely creepy.

The acting and music are excellent.

There isn't a whole lot of plot, but the movie is still quite entertaining and not boring.

It had me on the edge of my seat throughout most of the film.

If you like creepy horror mysteries, check it out.

Just finished

Trigger Point

Quote:
Follows Nicolas S., a retired U.S. special operative who becomes part of an elite “invisible” team that quietly takes out the worst villains around the world.

In theory, this could’ve been a good movie. Former special ops unit. Lots of action. Guns. Sniper scene. And a former “agency” is present as well.
But omg, this was a slow and boring movie. The plot is empty and completely foreseeable, nothing exciting ever happens. It is a B movie with a low budget, shot in the middle of nowhere.
Straight to movie release

YES DAY with Jennifer Garner, mother of three young kids and in a happy marriage, but always being seen as ‘the bad cop.’

For 24 hours and with some ground rules, mom and dad can’t say ‘no’ to their kids.

Hilarity ensues.

I saw One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975).

I last saw this as a minor, and I back then I saw it cleaned up for television, and I probably didn't appreciate it completely because I was so young.

This movie is pretty good, but also very slow.

The acting is top notch.

The music is okay.

I heard that the antagonist is one of the worst in film history, but I don't agree with that.

I've seen plenty of antagonists that are worse.

The problem I have with many movies that are mostly drama is that they're usually too slow for my taste, and that's my problem with this movie.

The ending is also very depressing, and I didn't like the way it ended.

The Dead Girl

The clues to a young woman’s death come together as the lives of seemingly unrelated people begin to intersect.

I liked this movie, it was above average and entertaining enough.
