I saw Dead and Buried (1981).

This movie is "from the creators of Alien."

You could have fooled me.

Alien (1979), is, or course, a masterpiece.

This movie is terrible.

The acting is not very good.

The dialogue is pretty bad.

There are petty arguments between couples in this movie.

No one wants to hear that garbage.

The music is actually decent.

The film isn't overly boring, but it isn't very entertaining.

This movie is a waste of space.

update on Dune….

posted my opinion before, and these
are from friends/family who saw it.

essentially, there were 5 types:

1. those who read the book(s). they are fans and might see it again.
2. teenagers who did not read the book and did not like this boooring movie.
3. children who did not understand much, but liked going to see any movie.
4. women in general did not like it. especially my two sisters and their daughters.
4. fathers who were dragged to the movie under duress. they used profanity afterwards.

well, no.

i was in the “muggle” group who had not read any of the books.

and, as a result, i was completely out-of-my-element for being
able to adequately understand exactly why anyone did anything.

Yeh, when I watched the original movie, I wondered why they all had fruit-punch mouth.

Did you see The Dead Don’t Die? I didn’t care for the movie as a whole but Tilda Swinton’s part in it was pretty great. Big Smile

When I was young I bought it on DVD to watch because gladiators. Boy was I disappointed. The way I remember it those fight scenes were some real stinkers. They had better film duels in the 1930s! Facepalm

Sure I did. I’m big Jim Jarmusch fan.
I really admired Tilda in Orlando

Hmm interesting filmography. Looks like he only makes the movies he wants to make. I can respect that.

I haven’t seen Orlando so I can’t comment on it.

Okay, this movie isn't out yet, but I plan to watch the Resident Evil reboot.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6920084/

I saw the name of the movie at the end of a commercial on TV, and I thought, "It must take place in 1998."

I looked it up, and of course it does.

It has a different director than the other live-action movies, so I hope it's at least decent.  :THUMBS-UP:

Since you're our resident expert (pun intended wink) on Resident Evil, how would you rank the SEVEN movies of the franchise? I'm not a huge fan of this genre, so if you could pick just one or two movies you'd say are the best of the Resident Evil series, what would they be?

I finally saw the new Dune movie.

I liked it! Better than I expected. Of course, highly disappointing that this is only part one… leaving us hanging. And it’s quite long. A few things depicted differently than I hoped. But overall… quite good & respectful of the book.

It's been a while since I've seen most of them, and I didn't write short movie reviews for any of them except part seven.

I think that the first six movies are very good, and part seven is just good.

Sorry, but that's the best I can do without re-watching all of them.

If you’re only gonna watch two, watch the 1st two (RE, and RE: Apocalypse). IMO those are the best. Hard to put one over the other.
The 1st one introduces everything so if you don’t know what it’s about, you kinda need to see it.
They’re all good though.

Very good movie. Scary, heartbreaking, it hits you like a train. 8.5/10
Not entertaining or funny. Sad, brutal life many of us don’t know.

Lilya 4-ever looks interesting – I’ll try to see that one

Jim Jarmusch is the Todd Rundgren of US filmmaking. I was impressed when I saw “Stranger Than Paradise,” back in 1984, but I had not seen another one of his movies (except for “The Dead Don’t Die”) until I recently saw “Paterson,” and again I was impressed. I have to see “Down By Law” one of these days.

Cool – thanks! Sometimes with a long running series like this, there can be significant improvements in production and story writing such that the original feels dated and lackluster. Thanks!
EDIT: Saw RE #1. Meh… not for me. Not my style of movie.

damn..ok. Bear in mind it’s a movie series based on a video game series, but, thems the breaks. Silent Hill is similar. I also liked both of those movies, however you probably will not. They are a bit more psychological horror though than RE

I actually prefer psychological horror/thriller versus blood-guts-gore ones.

Dune update.
this is why i could not
hear some of the dialogue….

“I used to be able to understand 99% of the dialogue in Hollywood films.
But over the past 10 years or so, I’ve noticed that percentage has dropped significantly — and it’s not due to hearing loss on my end.”

So basically, actors are getting more sloppy and audio takes a back seat to everything else (like CGI)… thus, it falls by the wayside. I can see it. “So what if you can’t understand everything they say? This is entertainment. You’re watching a visual spectacle—the audio dialog is along for the ride. Music is more important.”

I can’t stand actors who indulge being inarticulate.

Yea I didn’t have trouble understanding either, but that could be because my local theater likes to crank the volume up to ear-shattering levels…I can actually hear the movie just fine with my fingers in my ears too! Facepalm

But I understand the issue in general. Sometimes the dialogue is almost inaudible and then you get blasted by your speakers when the action starts because you had to crank the volume to hear. More often than not I end up with the subtitles on. :/
