I’ve been wanting one of these, but the shipping from CNQ really brings the price up. For the least expensive shipping which is registered shipping is $28.96 and DHL is $32.00. Those shipping costs are so close, it just makes more sense to go with DHL and have it in a week or less once shipped.

I also would prefer getting the complete package with the good Trustfire 5000mAh batteries, but I’ll go along with what the rest do if a group buy gets going.

Possible GROUP BUY?

Hi! Having done a little Scuba Diving (some at night), I would say that this looks like it might be a really, really good light. I have talked with a well-connected supplier in China and there is a possibility of a Group Buy. By the way, this supplier also has a less expensive diving light – 2×18650 with a T6 LED. It would probably be $40 or less shipped.

On the other hand, the CNQ price is pretty good on the TF TR-DF003 and Ric might consider a Group Buy as well. (I don’t know.)

About the shipping cost: Apparently the shipping weight is 1.7kg! That’s a heavy package and I don’t know what the shipping would be.

IMHO this light deserves pursuing IF there are enough people that are interested. We might even want to “pool” our resources with a diving forum in order to get the numbers up.

Regards, Bob

Definitely count me in for one unit in the $40 range if a GB is started.

Hi Richie! Just curious – where did you find the $28.96 price? About DHL, one of my China contacts has a good deal with them and he actually pays less for shipments over 2kg via DHL than with ordinary China Air.

Please keep in mind however that this is a true Diving Light and VERY heavy

ABOUT THE PRICE: IMHO, $40 is wishful thinking. In fact, if a seller quoted that, I’d totally suspect a scam. Nevertheless, a product of this apparent quality would go for several hundred dollars at a Dive Shop. The only caveat is that most well thought of Dive Lights have a pistol grip or a wrist strap. Nevertheless, I could join a couple of Dive Forums and mention the idea of joining our Group Buy – just to increase the numbers.

Also, keep in mind that this seems to be a really great normal light as well. It certainly has enough mass to dissipate a lot of heat above the water. I’m probably not telling you anything new but single purpose, dedicated dive lights don’t need to handle so much heat because the water keeps them cool.

Regards,
Bob

Hi Bob,

I added the light to the cart and then started the check-out process and it brings up all the shipping options. $28.96 is the cheapest CNQ will ship this light. I still want the light, just looking for the best price from a good seller.

Declaration doesnt have to be true either.. btw, iPhone costs about 170$, yet people go crazy for it at several hundreds of dollars.

I thought the customs declaration was typically priced as low as possible for a purpose, and typically no where near the actual cost?

Aah ok then… my fault for not really understanding customs declarations.

At any rate, this would be a nice light to have. Hopefully a GB materializes.

Yeah, customs caught the "gift"-trick pretty fast, so they started to print any price on the items.

You should better move here to france. Out of all the packages I ever received so far, I payed taxes only for one of them. For the most expensive item I’ve got recently I payed over 200 USD and that one was also not taxed. Btw, I live not far away from you. Down the A5 to Weil and then about 15 minutes over smaller roads.

I didnt have to pay customs either.. sometimes there is no price on them or it just gets through. But, according to the law, you'd make yourself punishable for tax fraud if you dont report receiving items without paying the taxes...^^

Heavy on land should help to dissipate a huge amount of heat (if it’s designed properly).
Heavy in water doesn’t create a problem for obvious reasons.
By the way, although most Diving Lights have pistol grips, they also make inexpensive rubber straps that work well around the wrist.

Bob

I heard from Ric today.

First of all, “Top Rated Sellers” on eBay are willing to ship only one of these lights for $83.96 including shipping (but those do not include the batteries, charger or box).

I asked Ric to work “very close” on this light and said:
“Note: You and I will need to determine a way to get this price reduced:
1)Perhaps we should wait until it’s not so very new?
2)Perhaps I should advertise the item so that the order quantity is larger?
[not said to Ric – I’m seriously considering joining a couple of diving forums and offering them the deal so that we can get the numbers up.]
3)Perhaps we should reduce the shipping size and weight by eliminating the 26650s and the charger?

Ric is aware of the competitive pricing but at the moment, he’s asking for $75 plus shipping for the complete package. I made it clear that we’d have to do better than that.

Note that Ric is only one of multiple sources I’ve developed for this light so please allow me a little time to “work one against the others” so that we can end up with a good deal.

Regards,
Bob

Me too. I want to wait and see if Bob can get a GB deal before I place my order with Manafont.

BTW, Bob, thanks for all the work you’ve been putting into this.

Hi nowell!! Welcome to the forum:) (im new as well)
Thank you for your update!

The results are very disappointing.
Actually, this light is not much brighter then a single t6? :s
Another thing, is there something to do with that? Changing the driver will help to gain more lumens?

So is that 2 amps to each LED on high? That’s respectable…..

I thought approx 1800 lumens OTF is already pretty good for triple XM-Ls.
