Home Depot XM-L Spotlight? Only $24.97

I was back in Home Depot again to pickup another 50 LED 4AA mod host light (see thread here) and found that they are stocking a bunch more "Defiant" branded lights. They appear to have an XM-L spotlight for $24.97 rated (ANSI) at 350 lumens for 5hrs 30 mins and 300 meters. I have found it on their website here. It doesn't say XM-L anywhere, but it sure looks like an XM-L to me. It's definitely a larger emitter and not the typical small XR-E's I'm used to seeing in LED spotlights. I'd say it's too large to even be an XP-G. Took a photo of the emitter through the package the best I could. Oh, and in my haste (I was in a rush) I forgot to verify the battery type. It says "Alkaline Rechargeable Battery System" and I don't know what that means. Nor do I know if there is a user-accessible battery compartment taking AA's, C's, D's, etc . . .

Here are some photos I took:

Thought someone would be interested to try this one out. Doesn't seem bad for the price. (And I know what some of you are thinking - there's that garrybunk sending me on another wild goose chase for a light that doesn't exist at my store!)

Just checked (I was at HD looking for your other light when you posted this) and mine doesn't have it. :'(

That a descent price, and it looks like an XML to me  but that doesnt mean very much.

Did you buy this one yet?

You know that’s coming Garry. I was at HD yesterday, none of those in my store.

The only XM-L spotlights I have seen around here are in Wal-mart, at an outrageous price.

Maybe HD is just regional when it comes to stocking things like this.

Dang scaru! That was fast! 7 minutes from post to verifying your store shelf! Did they have any "Defiant" branded lights there? Does anyone else see this "Defiant" brand in their stores?

apt323, no I didn't pick it up. I'm not really into spotlights and budget is tight right now.

My Walmart does stock the Stanley XM-L (the $50 "2000 Lumens" one).

Yeah, I have noticed with other items (typical home improvement type stuff) that they'll tell me Home Depot stocks it or I find it on their website and it's not in my local store (and my store will carry stuff not shown on their website).

I go fairly regularly (usually after one of Garry's posts Tongue Out ) and I have yet to see a Defiant flashlight.

Garry - could you see the number of bars in the LED? Too hard to tell in the photo.

No defiant stuff. The flashlight selection at my HD is a couple of maglites and then those 6 volts lanterns. If I'm lucky I will sometimes see those cheap 3aaa 9 led flashlights. I might head to another HD tomorrow.

It was tough to see through the plastic case, that's why I was judging more on size. Not sure when I'll get there next.

50 dollars for a xenon light without a battery, no thanks. :P

It seems that the HD further away from me has it so I may go and get one tomorrow. :)

There doesn’t appear to be much heat dissipation with this light, when you get it i am curious to see if they came up with something that we aren’t seeing

Will do, chances are I will also tear it apart and screw around with it until it no longer works. :D All for BLF. :p

That’s the spirit!

Got my eyes on this one…
Heatsink / cooling looks like it could be an issue though for those of us into modding.

Definitely looks like an XML though.

Is the reflector diameter bigger than the 7.6mm stanley fat max?

thanks!

Bad news guys, I went to HD and they were all out of them. I found the spot for it though. :P Hopefully someone else will be able to get their hands on one of these.

you can call and order one, just give them the sku number 574623
I sometimes call stores and ask them to do a visual check before i go there

You can check inventory @ multiple locations with this: http://sd.site88.net/homedepot.html. It’s in stock at 2/3rds of the HDs around me. Thx OP!
