[FIXED] Double Email Alerts for every Topic/Thread Update

I did a little look around and didn't see this posted. I keep getting double email notifications when a thread I'm following gets a new post. I get the usual "new comment posted . . ." but I also get "post xxxxx has been updated . . .". The "post xxxxx updated . . ." messages should only get sent when the O.P. gets updated, not for every new comment.

Anyone else see this too? Something just "stuck" in my account settings? I don't want to bother Mr. Admin if everyone is seeing it and it's something he's working on.

I seem to be getting double notifications too, I turned down the settings to just daily notifications because it was getting ridiculous, I also unwatched many of the posts, I check the recent post bar so its superfluous.

Seems like I get more than double some times. And that’s sometimes with one or no posts made.

This past day or two it’s been happening. I’ll get an email alert saying I have like 6 new comments or something. I go there, and there aren’t any new ones.

Yeah, if someone edits their post I get another 2 notifications. If they make another edit or two . . . yeah you get the idea! A few days ago (perhaps it was last Friday - I can't remember) I noticed over 700+ new email alerts and no new posts had been made. I figured something was reset with the notifications and the system kicked a bunch out. (At first I thought there had been a spam attack!).

Have you noticed all the "Test" posts being made by sb56637 the last two days? I'll bet he's been working on the notification settings.

Yeah, I searched thru those "Test" posts to see if maybe someone brought up the crazy/double email notifications but didn't see anything.

Fixed with the new notification system. Sorry for the annoyance!

What do i need to change to start getting email updates again. I was getting like a bunch everyday but now I only get a few everyday.

That’s the point. :wink: Before it sent multiple updates for each comment on the same thread. Now it only sends one until you return to visit the thread.

Make sure you click the "Click to Subscribe" link at the bottom right side of the O.P. of the thread you want to follow. The old system of "watched posts" no longer sends out email alerts (I'm just going to my "My Watched Posts" page and see what has unread posts and if it's a thread I want to get email alerts on, I make sure to go to the O.P. and click the "Subscribe" link.)

EDIT: I guess the question is, are you not receiving ANY email alerts for posts you used to watch? Or are you/were you expecting email alerts for every post on that watched thread?

Ah, sorry, I think I misunderstood. Unfortunately there’s no way to receive notifications for threads you marked with the old system. You can always go into your list of “Watched Posts” and open the thread and click on the new Subscribe link.
